It’s so easy to get addicted to food doing this job as a career. I fully admit it. You have to change your mentality. That has to come first in my opinion. It’s so easy to get addicted to food doing this job. My reward to myself at the end of a long day of driving during the first year was the stuff my face with high carb food and then go to sleep. Now I literally reward myself with exercise. If the load I’m hauling allows for it I’ll stop and do some pretty intense cardio during my break. But I absolutely get it in at the end of my shift every single day. I don’t care what the weathers doing, I don’t care what’s going on or how long my day was as soon as I finish my post trip inspection and go off duty the exercise begins. If it’s storming out or something like that i’ll run in place right in the middle of my truck. I load up my fridge and pantry in the truck with nothing but healthy low-carb food. Lots of protein. Lots of fresh veggies, berries for fruit. I’ve lost 60 pounds now in six months and I’m at the weight I want to be at. Blood pressure is always low / normal. The swelling in my lower legs is gone. Body fats down to probably 15% or so. Went from a 38 waist jeans down to a 32, I sleep better, don’t have sleep apnea anymore, the snoring is gone, and my energy level to drive is off the chart. Driving 500+ miles a day now it’s twice as easy as it was when I first started.
i’m not saying any of this to brag because trust me I was chunky six months ago. I had high blood pressure, I had sleeping problems, I had blood sugar problems, I snored loud enough to wake the guy up in the truck next to me, you name it. But it’s all gone now. In my opinion the first two weeks are kind of rough because you’re losing your cravings for carbohydrates. That’s what really gets you out there. When you’re tired you crave carbohydrates. But if you stick to a high protein low carb diet the craving goes away in about two weeks. -

Before you go in for your next physical, one hour before, take a 50mg Viagra if you can get one. This will open up your arteries and lower your blood pressure to within the legal limits.silverspur and silent_philosophy Thank this.

Exercise, diet, reduced caffeine and NEVER: energy drinks.
Lisinopril Uses, Dosage, Side Effects & Warnings - Drugs.com
Make sure you have no side effects. A lot of RX today creates more ill efects than the treated disorder.
I have yet to meet a doctor that takes side effects and risk aversion seriously....
Good luck! -

Sorry to hear you failed your physical. You didn't say how high your blood pressure was but you doctor felt you needed medication. You may have been told to lose weight and get more exercise. By all means do that. At your next examination request that you give the urine sample first so you can empty your bladder. If possible ask if your blood pressure measurements can be taken towards the end of the exam when your are more relaxed. As many times as I have had my blood pressure checked, I still get a little nervous when the cuff is wrapped around my arm. So stay as calm as you can. You have a lovely family. I wish you the very best.

You had a very considerate doctor. The blood pressure cuff can "make or break you" on this physical so its important that the reading is as accurate as possible. I'm glad I have a medical examiner who does this.
