And get written proof, signed by a manager at the terminal, that you returned the truck to the yard in good condition. Take photos and a video, too.

Imagine the headache of an abandonment on your DAC report. It's not fair. But just keep that in mind.

It's not abandonment, it's safe and secure at a dealership.

Don't assume that they wouldn't put it as an abandonment. This company seems shady enough to do that.

I agree with others, you'll probably get an abandonment on your DAC report because it's your assigned truck.
Some fly-by-night recruiters monitor trucking websites and probably hit you up with an unsolicited Private Message pushing a company for a recruiting fee. Might think you're an easy mark.
Tread carefully on your decisions about returning the truck and which company you drive for next.

I'm going to get the truck. There's no bus route going to anywhere near he dealership so they're trying to find me a rental but they've already given me the EFS code that covers most of the cost. The good news is that I got approved for a new job so despite the inconvenience, things are looking up.

Lets hope not; that's dry van. But, to each his own. Some drivers like that type driving job. Problem, depending on the company, is competing with lease-purchase drivers. Maybe there's none there.

Good call taking the truck back. With the animosity this company has already shown you, it's a good bet they would hit your DAC. If you have 4 years of experience and a clean MVR, then the kind of companies you're going to want to apply for are the kind of companies that are going to pull DAC.
