Peterbilt appears to run good, crossed the big muddy twice yesterday, and saw Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, andback here to Indiana. 1261 miles. 22 hours, and only one dead piglet out of 631. Not bad. Although I will say that unloading weaner pigs out of a triple deck pot, vacuums about as bad as anything you can do when it’s hot

Maybe this is a dumb question . I have no livestock experience of any kind.
How often do u livestock haulers run into the animals dying in transit? What does the customers do with the dead ones?Friend, CAXPT, Big Road Skateboard and 9 others Thank this. -
fat hogs, going to the slaughter house, it’s pretty rare that any die, unless it’s really hot. (Most of what I haul is relatively local going to the slaughterhouse, so I can’t speak for those going more than six hours) Weaner pigs, you almost have to knock one down and beat it to kill it, they are pretty hardy. The one that died for me yesterday was in the nose of the trailer, so it was in the first batch they put on, they were in the trailer for 14 hours, and it was hot. And, I went through Chicago about noon time in there, so they weren’t moving all that great for a while. I prefer no dead at all, because I get a $50 bonus for a clean load. The farmer generally takes care of any deadFriend, CAXPT, Big Road Skateboard and 14 others Thank this.

“You just shot an unarmed man!!”
“Well, he should’ve armed himself.”

I'm usually doing what they call a pasture move, so ranch to ranch, very rarely am I going to a sale barn or feeders but if it happens they'll help drag it off with a tractor and it goes to a open pasture for the crows to eat.
if you know a rancher they know a place to dump one.
But also you can get rid of them at a landfill. It just costs extra
