Its tough to compare Texas to other states. Its a lot of open space in Texas and many places west. Texas has respect for truckers moreso than many other states in my view.

you are right. They have plenty of parking and they need to build more on the eastern part of the country. It would solve all the problems

Easier said than done though....all points east of Kansas City is getting developed with endless retail/restaurants and more housing. Love's and QT is trying though. A few states are building more modern rest areas so there is somewhat if an attempt.

Last night I had to shut down at 4pm and get up at 2am. Even at 4pm the parking is getting full. I really hate trying to sleep at 4pm but it's gotten so bad in some areas, it's basically what you have to do now.

Granted I'm primarily in Utah and Idaho.... But in Utah there are few open spots in truck stops after 3 pm. My biggest challenge is the rig I drive is much longer with worse turning radius. Making backing into a truck stop stall a real pain. I also prefer the quiet of off ramps. I don't use ones in Metro areas, but instead the ones in the middle of nowhere that have wider parking lanes and in a night might only have 1-2 cars pulling off them.

A bigger issue with building more parking areas or truck stops is a lot of communities do not want truck facilities in their towns. No matter what or who want to build them they don't care and voice their opposition to local governments. Maybe if we as drivers helped clean up our image it would help. After all pee jugs, broken pallets, old tires ang general trash on the ground rather than in the cans sure doesn't make us look like the kind of people you want to have as neighbors.

My lytx camera snitches on me if it detects I've shut down on an off ramp. Even for 10 minutes to do a load check.

I've been saying this a lot in the last few years. I run across 78 in PA almost every day. The car tray really don't bother me much. They do their thing, I do mine and we're all happy. My problem is the other trucks. The ones doing 55 in the left lane without a thought of moving to the right. The idiots in the right lane that wait until you're 10 feet away that cut you off just to slow you down. And the idiots doing 75 through a 45mph construction zone.

Yeah, these idiots walk amongst us
