i called the school i plan on going to today to make sure i was set to start monday. the recruiter (i guess thats

what he is) pulled out my file/ app. and went over with me double checking the tickets Etc. off my driving

history. then he went over the two times in my life i have been arrested checking the dates. both were almost 10 years ago.

he said he would call me back later to confirm start date and we hung up. well he called back later and said that

i needed to put together my last 10 years of work history because the three Yrs. originally asked for on the
school app. "wasn't anything to brag about".

because of the fact (i guess) i had switched jobs 5 times in that
period (same line of work though) he told me i needed to come in tomorrow and fill out a few company apps
because i couldn't get a loan for it without some "pre-hires"

BTW, some of the switching jobs had to do with me quitting because of bad MGMT. after hurricane Ivan. i quit as a maint/ HVAC technician went back to an HVAC company and then got called back to that Co. to replace the Mgr. i had quit because of.(it came with a 50% pay increase)

soooo...... PLEASE TELL ME AT LEAST THE BOTTOM FEEDERS WILL HIRE ME!!! I AM DETERMINED ENOUGH TO GET OUT OF THIS HOLE I'M IN NOW TO DO A YEAR WITH ANYONE. I'VE SPENT 15 YEARS CRAWLING AROUND IN AN ATTIC DOING FIBERGLASS DUCTWORK, MOST OF IT IN FL AND I JUST CAN'T DO IT ANYMORE!

One thing I was wondering. Can you still get a HAZMAT endorsement with your arrests? If so CRST should take you as well. They will also put you threw school. I'm not endorsing them as a good long term job, but it will get you in the door and thats what you need.

 thanks for your input i'll check'em out if i have to.
i am wanting to go to this particular school because it is local. of course since my credit sucks they want $ 600 from me to cover what their "loan providers" won't cover. so, i may have to use that 600 to help me with expenses for a school that's out of town.

From your other posts I seem to remember NW FLA, but don't remeber the school.

If it's any consolation, I have flip-flopped again today, and 99% headed for company training. My credit is crud and if I spend my last $ on school, I may be scraping for weeks. All this waiting for trainers and trucks I've been reading about; makes me leary to throw all my savings at the school.
I understand what all the pros here are saying about pay your own school and pick your job. And that is great advice. But all situaions are different.

We have all done a year at a bad job. I can do a year at one, work my butt off, keep my mouth shut, and move on if needed.

I guess I'm just saying, I've wanted to drive a truck for along time, and now I have a real opportunity to do it. I'm going to do whatever it takes to make it happen.

From what I've read in your posts, you are too. Hang in there. When one door closes don't wait for the next one to open. Find the next one, knock it down, and go through it!
    Good luck

BTW-- I'll do what it takes, but not Swift or CRST:smt082

thanks seven, i needed that.
i will even work for SWIFT if i have to do it to prove myself to the biz. i can't stay where i am, refuse to go backwards, so the only way left is forward.
CDI was the school, the Companies that had posters on the wall were werner, stevens, swift, and covenant. the recruiter mentioned TMC hiring from them too, so i don't know how many others they deal with.
i will let y'all know tomorrow all the companies i fill out an app. for.

i don't see where anyone's past few years of work history are anything to "brag about"..............heck, you weren't driving then, at least not commercially.

i have quit many jobs as well, all in the same industry, so what.........???

i probably have had more trucking jobs in my (now) past 19 years than most people have hair on their backs........and i STILL get trucking jobs..

that "recruiter" is only trying to make you look good on paper, so i wouldn't sweat it too much. you'll be hireable soon after graduation and when you actually have that license in your hands. you can "pre-hire", but most companies are really only interested in anyone when that license is in your hands. i think that some of what that "recruiter" said, was BS, and give him/her my name and where to find me (here on these boards), and i'll go "toe to toe" with 'em, as you know I CAN DO.............

thanks pro, that means quite a bit coming from you. i know you don't pull punches or "sugar-coat" anything.
i have been laid-off lied to and (by my own fault) just didn't like the place and quit. prolly had 15 jobs in 10 years because my tolerance for BS is NILL. I THINK I CAN HANG IN THERE NOW KNOWING "JOB HOPPING" ISN'T GOOD FOR YOUR CAREER IN TRUCKING. in HVAC business they will tell you anything to get you in the door and company jumping is the "norm"
