My company pay detention pay after 1 hour even if they don’t collect the money. They pay when truck in the shop for repairs, even in their own shop.
I seen some companies pay by the hour not many do but 1 does for driving and everything. If your On-Duty you getting paid by the hour.
that helps take way the pressure of trying to save time on ELDs when loading or unloading.
I AM SO SICK OF ELD'S! It's not making the industry any safer.

The Government knew ELDs would be unsafe when they exempt livestock haulers from using them. ELDs count every single minute and paper logs give drivers a 15-minute leeway on every duty change. They know it is safer to fudge or lie, which it is. If they want to keep ELDs, then eliminate the 70-hour limit. Then their will no longer be a need to rush, hurry, speed, and cut corners to try and gain or save minutes.
-
That’s not the reason they have an exemption for livestock. What good would it do to eliminate the 70 hour rule? I suspect more people hurry around on a daily basis because of the 14 hour limit and not the 70 hour limit.D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

They should crawled at 3 mph. Lol

Totally agree.....and those guys are highly resistant to change. I use the creep mode repeatedly, I use split sleeper repeatedly. I think HOS is very flexible, but it's the drivers that aren't.

I fail to see how the 14 and 70 are the problem. You have 11 hours to drive every single day. I moreso agree with the fact that drivers are their own worst enemy. They complain about hours of service because they run their miles incorrectly. Most drivers run out their clock every single day. I don't think drivers should do that unless necessary. I do not run more than 600 miles unless there's some reward for doing so. The biggest reward comes in availability. If they give me an appt load that's 900 miles, what's the point in running 650 the first day? Cut that 900 in ½ and run with balance.

Years ago our time was paused as soon as we changed lines to sleeper berth. If we needed a 45 minute Power Nap so be it and move on. I’ve never used a eld and doubt I ever will so not knowledgeable on them….SmallPackage and Deere hunter Thank this. -
But having that freedom was the problem. Lol. Now you have to race the clock while driving tired do you don’t get stuck in la la land on some “reset”MooneyBravo and Deere hunter Thank this.

*Legally* you wouldn’t be able to pause the clock today with a 45 minute break no matter how you’re recording your hours of service.
Yes, I agree the ELD sucks. But we’re nearly 8 years into it at this point. The new splits they’re proposing would be a nice change to the rules. I don’t get all the people wanting to do away with the 70.MooneyBravo, kemosabi49, Deere hunter and 1 other person Thank this. -
