Maybe not, but you need to know a little something at least to know what the hell you’re even looking at when you perform a pretrip inspection… for those of us who actually do those anyway.Gearjammin' Penguin, austinmike, Sons Hero and 2 others Thank this.

That is a fake video...Walk Among Us and silverspur Thank this.

Virginia, Indiana... there's been a lot of them come out right after Kerrvile floods.D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

As others have mentioned basic hand tools are all you need, but I would also add a 50' air hose that you can connect to your glad hand and a caging bolt.Walk Among Us Thanks this.

To put a very fine point on it; and from an old mans point of view, from excerpts of some of the postings on different truck forums.
You do not get a whole lot of anything from a CDL school except how to pass the tests. Can't drive when you get there, still won't be a driver when you leave. There may be exceptions, but few and far between...Gearjammin' Penguin, MACK E-6, austinmike and 2 others Thank this. -
15/16” wrench, and pair of vice grips. Can rip a blown brake chamber off and roll in 10 minutes. Had to do that one night in Illinois. Remove brake chamber, pinch off airline, and race for home
MACK E-6, Walk Among Us and austinmike Thank this. -
Cattle prod trucks. Tell you when to drive, when to park, when you go past the posted limit, when you follow too close, when you go outside the lines, and it decides to slam on the brakes for you. Put the most moronic moron behind the wheel and cut the wages.Gearjammin' Penguin, MACK E-6, D.Tibbitt and 2 others Thank this.

Why remove the brake chamber? Back off the adjuster, or cage the brakes. Vice grip the air line.MACK E-6, drh72, Sons Hero and 1 other person Thank this.
