I just heard the other day that the number of immigrants leaving Canada is higher than ever. You know this country has problems when people from less well-off countries are getting out of here and either heading back home or someplace better.

Came here for advice… seemed like a good thread. But all I get online is negetive vibes.

im wanting to emigrate from the UK to Canada with my family. I have 10 years UK class 1 experience.
We are looking to move to NS.

Im just looking at options in getting there, even just me first.

all im reading is doom and gloom, and if im honest, quite a bit of racism/prejudice

for context I have a bit of equity to buy a house etc….
I get it’s not easy, but I’ve also lived in Australia and understand you have to put effort in to emigrate anywhere.

@Donk moved to Canada from Australia a few years ago. I wonder how he’s making out.

The shiny years are over. Specially with the ongoing trade war. Transportation is down.

Unless you go into a segment of trucking that requires more than the bare minimum of holding a wheel and pushing a throttle or brake pedal I don't think you'll see a decent wage.

You’re right i have a company calling me tomorrow about pulling a dry bulk trailer delivering to cement plants . 1-2 loads a day It’s going to be a tough job, you’re in muddy conditions all the time and i have to carry a hose up stairs and what not that they claim weighs 50-70lbs . I actually turned it down a few months ago but they reached out to me on friday. Asking if i was still interested

It’s everything i want , day shift ,early starts , i get my own assigned tractor, Mon-friday $31 a hr . I’m tired of working nights , Getting no work calls throughout the year and only making 55-62k a year the past 13 years . it’s definitely not helping me health wise either,I have the big truckers gut and at 39 i need a change but scared at the same time because the job market is really bad right now and what if it doesn’t work out or they let me go . At the same time sometimes you have to take a risk in life . it could be good for me especially being more physically active and the $31 a hr i could make a decent living. I’m definitely going to be working for it though which is the only way to make good money in the toronto area

    AModelCat Thanks this.
