And how do they steer them with all that weight taken off the front end? Th first haulage truck I had with a very long rear overhang I later found out was built on a coach chassis. My first reload was 2 pickups and 2 deliveries but the collection of the 1st delivery was just around the corner so obviously I put it on the rear. Went straight on at the first bend. Had to jump it up and down a bit with the throttle 'till I got the 2nd pickup on.

 

One of the coolest vehicles I ever hauled was a LUV with a wrecker body and a tag axle. Same guy bought a Grape Ape purple Ranchero lowrider with suicide doors and hydraulics.

 

Old school shady tricks no one knows anymore! Lift throttle to turn.

It’s amazing how many contractors think two leaf springs, a rear end, and a tailgate are some how cheaper than a delivery charge! I wonder how far they got, hopefully no speed bumps on their way to the job.

I tried to tell ‘em that it bent as they drove it on and that they shouldn’t haul equipment on an aluminum frame.

 

It's not the frame that's the problem. It's the unsupported outer edge of the deck that is bending. There's no cross members or knee braces where the tires are. Not to mention all the weight is on the rear axle since they are backed up onto ramps to load.

Aluminum trailers can handle plenty of weight if loaded properly.

 

They pulled ahead and backed the loader up. The poor trailer didn’t fully recover. Sorry I didn’t get a second picture, you can only rubber neck for so long.

 

Aluminum trailers act like a spring. Over many years they may relax and need to be rearched, but if the weight is still there of course it won't recover. Only if the outriggers buckle will there be actual damage.
