It's nothing wrong with going to Werner. They would have got you started. Once you get experience, if you didnt like Werner, then you can find options that fit you better if Werner doesn't. Don't pay that much attention to reviews because every company has ambassadors and complainers. Wherever you go, you create your own story. Bad reviews don't mean your experience will be bad.

Also, it's a real possibility that you will work for a similar company to Werner even after you go to school, meaning other beginner level companies.

For a total rookie -- Swift will be tough to beat.

The perks outweigh any rookie disadvantages.

I would just add having a new CDL and no experience is not usually enough to get a job. Because the insurance companies for the trucking companies won’t insure someone without experience. If you get CDL on your own you might still have work for a starter company and still go with a trainer for a couple weeks. Some companies might take the chance but it’s something to know, and you’re not locked into working for company you might not like. Lots of people think all you need is CDL and you can get job. You need experience or a company that will take the risk on new driver.

The big mega fleets that train new drivers, how they avoid a lot of this problem is they are self insured for like the first million dollars. Plus they have their training program but anything that goes wrong like accidents unless is over 1million dollars they pay it themselves. That’s also part of why they pay less. They are taking the risk and paying for all the rollovers or cargo claims or anything the new driver does wrong.
