I’m looking for recommendations on trucking companies that accommodate my Air Force Reserve schedule typically the first weekend of the month.
I drove for Stevens Transport for about a year in 2022 and I am eligible for Re-hire but want to see what else is out there. (Was not in the Air Force at that time.)
I live in Florida and Swift is not hiring new drivers. Prime has 4-6 month training program for their Flatbed and out 6 weeks at a time Reefer is not an available option per the recruiter I spoke to.
Werner, Roehel and Schneider also say they accommodate reservist but didn’t know what else is out there.
According to some posts about Werner their pay was only $700-900 by they have it posted on their website between $1100-1500. I don’t know about you folks but to drive for 60-70 hours a week and make $700, the math just ain’t mathing for me.
Ideally I would like to drive for 28 days fulfill my obligation and get back out on the road. I do not care about home time just need to make it back for UTA.
Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Every employer is required to accommodate employees with Guard & Reserve duty.

You would have to plan to be home 2 days before the weekend, because you never know with trucking.
Bean Jr., tscottme and McTruckin0924 Thank this. -
I appreciate the response! I know it can be difficult for some carriers to accommodate that based on freight coming out of FL.

I agree 100% Thank you for your input!

Given your location (below I-4 in FL) & one year of experience -- this one will be tough to beat (in the current CDL job market):
Marten Transport -- CDL Class "A" truck driver

As mentioned, by law, I have to accommodate any person working for me to meet their obligations. Some of my office staff and my W2 drivers are given a lot of latitude on time off; the other drivers, if they are stuck somewhere, we make sure they are home before their week/weekend - sometimes on my own dime. I understand most companies will do the same for reservists.
Lonesome Thanks this.
