    I'll add my thoughts.......

Not to long ago I saw a older model Chevy one ton loaded with bricks. I knew it was a big block as they have a sound all to themselves, at any rate- This truck was loaded down so much, it barely had enough power to get underway.

There's several factors here, 1) It doesn't provide enough torque 2) You're gonna spend alot of time and effort to make the setup work for very little gain.

Why not get an old B Model Mack and run it?

I'm not trying to be a smart ### or piss on your parade, but facts are facts........

Whatever. Come on back when you get serious about getting information. If you are just looking for a rubber stamp for your ideas, right or wrong, then don't let the door hit ya. . .

    What truck?

Nice looking all right. It must be real nice to have more dollars than sense. (Or you can be like me, and not have either one. . .):biggrin_25510::biggrin_2559:

He laughed when they said that it couldn't be done,
with a big smile, he got right into it.
With a chuckle he worked and he tinkered and tried,
    and you know what?
    He couldn't do it.

OTOH, if no body ever tried to do what "couldn't be done," our so called "civilization" would not have come very far, would it.

Ron, you need to do some insurance shopping. I just put Primary Liability, Physical damage for $50k value, cargo, and bobtail on my truck for a grand total of $571 a month for all coverages.

I was just quoting an average for a Cali based Carrier.....
Also, Cali DOT requires us to carry $100K Cargo insurance...That makes some difference in rates...

That's what I have is $100k Cargo, and $1 Million in Liability. I'm sure the cost structure is different in California, I was just nitpicking more than anything. 3 or 4 years ago, it was pretty common to have paid $1000 a month just for liability. Almost unbelievably, insurance costs have fallen in the last few years as far as trucking is concerned.

i have heard of a ih cabover with a 460 ford

however if you put that 454 in you might also consider adding a few engines from your gocarts 3wheelers and dirtbikes just for a hp boost when needed.

my first truck was a salvaged volvo stripped of its engine. the top of the cab was smashed so i just cut it off and made it into sort of a convertible then installed a rope start 10hp briggs&stratton it got me by but it was hard to get moving with a load and was miserable to drive in the rain and snow.

i now have a brand new 389 glider kit that i have installed 7 115hp evinrude outboard boat motors in. i have 7 gas pedals in the cab and only use as many motors as i need. grossing 190,000lbs up siskiyou pass at about 55mph it only took 5 pedals, not sure what would happen if i hit all 7 at the same time?
