Translation... Aren't you guys afraid of not making your delivery time?
Nope, not in the slightest in any way.
The delivery can be rescheduled if I shut down due to weather, but it can't be if I crash and the load is lost.
JIT and the load HAS to get there on time or the factory shuts down? Too bad. The receiver should have had planned for the weather and construction and accidents and many other delaying factors if they want to run that tight of a schedule.

The fear mongering of chaining is way overblown IMO. Chain up once or twice and it’s a cakewalk after that. And a couple hours later, you’re sitting in Seattle getting unloaded and reloaded in 45 degree weather while people are packed like sardines in Montana.
I’ll take chains on Snoqualmie for safety before I’ll do Missouri when it’s 30 degrees and a wintery mix
Not judging anyone for shutting down for it, but I don’t think the chaos of traffic when the chain requirements are lifted is any safer IMOGearjammin' Penguin, nextgentrucker, Rugerfan and 3 others Thank this. -

You are the one that started this so called keyboard war telling me to come fight you... I only stated my opinion to the op backed by first hand experience that chaining is nothing to be afraid of. People like you that claim you will end up in prison because a guy goes the extra length to get a job done are the ones that are ruining this industry..
the old timers that used to do this job worked with no power steering, no a/c, no gps, spring ride suspension, No cell phomnes, and without any of the luxury tools that we have now, somehow they always found a way to get down the road with good judgement and without all the nanny systems or some retard on the interent saying that it cant be done and they will kill themselves if they try.. so go and feel free to run your truck as you feel fit. I dont care. Just dont say its impossible to do certain things just because you are to scared to do it yourself..
going above and beyond and pushing your personal limits everyday is how a guy learns and grows.. i dont ever want to be a guy thats to scared to do something and claim it cant be done while theres thousands of people doing it every single day. I want to figure out what they know that i dont, and i want to encourage the newer drivers to do the same, because thats what keeps progress moving forward. I had never driven in the snow before i started driving a truck, i wouldve never learned how and acquired the skill it takes to be safe in the winter if i didnt push myself to try it for the first time. My personal limits out here are in a much more elevated place now than they were even 2 years ago , and even more so than when i started 8-9 years ago. And in 10 years from now it will be even greater. And thats the way it should be.Gearjammin' Penguin, snowlauncher and nextgentrucker Thank this. -
Trucking is filled with legal issues that are burdensome to drivers, learning how to manage risk is a great skill. Knowing when the journey is over for the day, get familiar with the Surface Transportation Assistance Act of 1982, you have rights under the law. We all can make our own calls but don't be shocked if you get cross examined for a decision after the fact. You may beat the wrap in a lawsuit/criminal situation but you're still going to take the ride, could last years.. new drivers, under 5 years, need to understand this reality. It's about setting yourself up for long term success.
