Hello everyone- I'm curious about how they do employment verification. I have 16 months experience and the last 8 months have been with a small owner. He owns 2 trucks and nothing he does is legal- including my tax forms, drug test etc. I finally quit driving for him because it was 18-20 hr days, no benefits, no security and he always tried getting me to sleep with him- just a very toxic, disgusting boss- But I also have no pay check stubs (he would pay me in cash up until a few months ago where he started transferring my paycheck to me through the bank). I know I've been on his insurance since January and I had a DOT inspection during my time driving with him, but I'm worried about the employment verification part of it. Can anyone tell me what the process is or how I could go about getting my employment verified? Thanks in advance ☺️

    Lonesome Thanks this.

We didn't do any of that. He just had is run under ag exempt. So there's no paper trail. I'm thinking about doing a certified letter to him with a w9 form? But I don't know if that will work or if it's a good idea the only paperwork that would verify me as an employee is my DOT inspection. I was written a warning for a bad tire- but I turned that paperwork into him. So I don't have a personal copy. I also have a picture of his insurance policy- but again, I'm unsure if that would work.

You all never went outside the 150 air mile radius which would have required at least paper logs? You mentioned nothing is legal, including your tax forms. What tax forms did you complete, if any?

No. I would go to my loading place (within 150 air miles) and from there my delivery was within 150 air miles of that location. We would then stack loads always abiding in the 150 air miles-

I even had a dot inspection and I showed him all of my paperwork and everything was legal-

So what tax forms did you complete or did you never complete any when you worked there?

    No.
I never completed any. After I quit he messaged me asking me to come fill out the w9 paperwork. I printed them off and am going to mail them certified through usps so I have proof of delivery.

I'm not sure your last 8 months matters.

You can still get in on some decent gigs with 8 months experience.

CONGRATS MUCH -- on your exit from your crap employer!

Now -- get back out there, & get something else -- that's truly professional-grade!

I had a company tell me that they're waiting on employment verification- this is why I'm asking this question-
