I have a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia. It uses caliper part number WAB 640 322 107 0, Since 2023 I have had to replace FOUR of these. Every time I get brake work done, one of the Adjuster Plug Pins snaps. The pin’s body is paper thin, completely unfixable, and that means replacing the entire caliper every single time. That is $1,000 a pop.

The bigger problem is finding them. I have had to sit for no less than a week every time I have needed one. And here I am again, stuck, because the ABS tone ring needed replacing and once again the pin snapped.

    Part situation:
    • Right side: Original part WAB 640 322 105 0 → replaced by WAB 640 322 190 0 (discontinued, no alternative). They now tell you to order WAB 640 322 107 0 (full caliper brake kit, also discontinued and only available as a special factory order, which can take months).
    • Left side: WAB 640 322 104 0 → replaced by WAB 640 322 189 0 (also discontinued, no alternative).
Excelerator Parts even has this footnote:

FOR THIS EXCHANGE CALIPER, PLEASE CREATE AN APC TICKET. SUPPLIER IS CURRENTLY HAVING SOURCING ISSUES AND THERE ARE NO ALTERNATIVES CURRENTLY. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THE CAC FOR THIS. CAC WILL ALSO DIRECT YOU TO CREATE APC.

I am looking for any leads on where to find these calipers faster so I am not stuck sitting for weeks or months every time this happens. If anyone has a source, cross-reference, or even a trusted rebuilder, please share.

This place is in NY. WAB/640-322-107-0 FREIGHTLINER ORIGINAL CAL/PAD ASSY.1A5.539 - PERIPARTS
A pic would have been helpful.
When you find them you could buy 2 of each and eat the core charge. I know, pricey. That way you have them available.
"Every time I get brake work done, one of the Adjuster Plug Pins snaps. The pin’s body is paper thin, completely unfixable,"
So the adjuster is frozen and snaps when trying to remove? Apply anti-seize before installing the new/reman caliper.
Have you tried a machine shop? It's amazing what a good machine shop can do.
Look into replacing with another brand such as Bendix.

    Adjuster Plug Pins
Are you referring to the shear nut?
Parts may be available to rebuild the caliper.

They say they're not serviceable but I've tore them completely down, cleaned/greased up and put back together.
Use the service kit and if the adjuster is froze, pull it out and clean/lube it. I use a aluminum block to set the adjuster height.

I appreciate the help. I would've loved to add a photo, but I wasn't exactly sure how, I'm new to forums that don't support embedded pictures. But it seems I can actually upload a picture in the reply section. Odd.

I'm still new to this forum and posting so I'm still getting the hang of adding pictures. Here's a picture of the caliper and the adjuster screw. I am referring to.

They can be taken apart, cleaned and lubed.

I think Bendix said if the tool breaks, the caliper is bad. Horseship, those are too easy to break. Shops and dealerships take advantage of it IMO
