I just learned something about what causes and cures my knee joint pain.

Twenty years ago I had acl surgery done on my left knee. The operation is still keeping my knee stable to this day but I always had mild soreness since then up until three years ago when I started a low carbohydrate diet eating only once or twice a day with at least a 16 hour fasting period. The pain went away after only the first couple months, so I thought it was completely cured.

Six weeks ago however my wife and I went on a vacation to visit her family and during that time I ate a lot of carbs, no ultra processed foods but things like mashed potatoes, gravy, cord on the cob, stuff that most folks would consider healthy. That is when the pain in my knee returned shortly afterwards. I thought I had injured it all over again. But After just a couple weeks of eating my standard diet of beef, bacon, eggs, and butter, the pain vanished again.

So while it was not completely cured, a heavy fat and protein diet makes the pain go away. I am able to walk for miles and miles now without any soreness.

interesting. I do remember hearing sugars are an inflammatory. Maybe it's any carbs. I also have knee issues and do mostly low carb. Still some carbs sneak in.

I found it odd that both knees recently went out at once on a female friend. She's getting the right one replaced in September and the left in December. I tried to turn her on to some of the alternative stuff but it was like awakening an angry snarling demon, she didn't want to hear about it. It's gonna be TradMed or bust.

I cut carbs and not only lost weight, but felt better than ever. Past few weeks, I’ve been indulging myself on carbs. I feel like crap. Low energy, aches, pains, and bloated feeling. Also noticed the more carbs I eat, the more I want. It’s crystal clear. I’m convinced. The carbs,(sugars) and especially high fructose corn syrup. It’s in everything and the main cause of fatty liver, obesity, heart disease, and of course diabetes. Metabolic syndrome, defined as having excess fat deposits in 3 or more organs, where it doesn’t belong.

It is hard to get off of carbohydrates at first, but once you get over the initial hurdle, you do not need much willpower after that because the temptation goes away. It is because all carbohydrates break down to sugar, meaning fructose and glucose.

The hardest part of sticking to zero sugar and carbs for me right now is that last summer i found a fig tree on my property when I saw this bear eating them. Never knew I even had it all these years. So i pruned the thing, removing all the dead branches and this summer it is growing bowls full each day now. My wife keeps sending me pictures of of her harvest each day. It is hard to resist with them being from my own tree and all. Fresh figs are a rare thing to get anywhere, especially where I live at but somehow this tree loves growing in the Smoky Mountains.

Ha, luckily that zero gauge wire i replaced the tiny one with has held up perfectly so far, so I have been cooking in my truck every day now. I even bought a cast iron skillet for myself after a bad accident where the lightweight nonstick one i was using spilled grease and beef all over my sleeper mattress when the thing just slipped off the burner. Now this one I just take with me whenever I get home time and season it there. It is a little bit of extra work but that thing is a rock, it does not move an inch on the burner, even when the truck is idling.

Ah, well, in-laws can do that,,,kidding, I loved my in-laws, it was my ex-wife I disliked. I don't know, going to have to bring in the sites "resident -in-training", Chinatoon on this one. As usual, this doesn't make a lick of sense, and why I'm so skeptical about the healthcare system. So heavy fat and protein make the symptoms go away?:dontknow: That would probably make a Dr. cringe to hear that, seems they preach just the opposite. Like grandpa always said, "with all I've been reading about, I've finally decided to do something, and stop reading",,,and lived to be 94. Everybody processes food different, making it incredibly difficult to diagnose, but let's throw a ton of money at it trying.
