So far, the information has been very good. Takes a lot to operate a business. Building a solid business plan is important. The key to that plan is research. What are similar operations in the 150 mile radius from your location doing? Where are they loading and delivering. Is there a demand for more capacity? Can you identify possible niche services that will be consistent? While load boards can help fill in, they should not be the primary source of revenue. First, you will have a hard time finding enough consistent loads to pay the bills. Next as a new company you will have a difficult time getting brokers to actually load you. Just curious, have you looked into the cost of insurance? Thats going to be a major expense. Even if you’re under 26001, you’re going to need a DOT number, because you will be operating a for hire transportation service.
It’s all the little details that need to be taken care of.

    Staplestruckparts Thanks this.

Other than poor rates for unestablished owner operators. You will not survive with two other partners, it is hard enough for one person to make it.

Understood. Any point where things start to pick up? At least where I can balance and stay lean.

Just an FYI, you do know that this is a highly litigious industry which has a failure rate of 90% and has ambulance chasing scum lawyers who will take everything you have if your truck is in an accident --->> even if it is not your fault?

Do not count on an LLC to protect you, it won't happen.

Trucking is a very cut throat business, there is always someone that will haul a cheaper. I don't know anything about the box truck business. I am an independent, and own a tractor trailer There maybe someone here that can offer insight on the box truck business. I always recommend you drive for someone for a few years and gain experience.

Honestly I would recommend you getting your CDL and then driving as a Company driver for at least 5 years to gain an understanding of trucking in general all the while continuing to save. Then, buy a real semi and trailer and become an owner operator at that point. Best wishes to you!
