Everything has from what I'm seeing. It's bad. August 2024 I took home after taxes just over 10,000 dollars. AFTER TAXES. August 2025 I'm on track to make 3k-3.5k before taxes.

If trucking is the canary in the coal mine like it usually is, we're in for a bad time ahead. Glad I sold all my crap and am free of attachments. I can drop everything right now and move anywhere without any issues. Just need a few hours to throw my clothes in the car and whatever time to drive where I'm going.

Probably going to go to Alaska and run the north slope or haul road. I can't stomach a 60-70% paycut. Even though I don't need the money, once you get used to it, any paycut seems like a scam.

Congratulations on buying a truck, and one without payments to boot!

If you're near the Houston area you might want to talk to Enterprise in Baytown or GenOx in Deer Park.

Funny you mention Alaska and the North Slope. I've been researching both as well. The North slope sounds very interesting, I've got a few fuel companies that I was keeping on file. There was a pretty decent north slope facebook page that was awesome.

After you decide what type of tanker work you want to do. Then you can determine which company would be good for you.

Bulk chemical, fuel hauling, food grade, chemical distribution, Liquified Petroleum Gases, Hot Asphalt, cryo, crude oil, mud, and etc. There are companies that are doing well right now. There are some just staying afloat. And there are those that are barely hanging on. Talked to a buddy of my cousin yesterday. And he said he finally left the oilfield because there are too many trucks and not enough work. But the west Texas and North Dakota oilfield use to be the place you could make good money with your own truck.

However I would look into fuel and cryo companies. As they tend to have work all year. But do your research on who in your area is constantly running. Because even with those products. Some companies are still slow for different reasons.

One thing to note though probably already know. But if using your own truck. Might need to pay to install equipment on it to haul the trailers the company uses. If already got something ignore me

LGT wants you to lease payment their Peterbilt, and know 2 personal lease op guys who have had bad experiences with leasing. I would not do LGT, and they most likely won't allow you to take your truck to them.

Prime tanker also won't allow you to lease on a truck, you must use their fleece program.

Maybe try GenOx down houston way for Cryo

I tried Genox, dont do it. There is one other 3rd party in Texas, pretty good size now, lots of ex genoxers. not lgt, the other one.

I currently run hazmat tankers on the slope right now, and I love it. I’m on a 3weeks on 3 weeks off schedule. I Have way more time off than when I was OTR. Actually get spend my time off traveling and spending time with family. I don’t have to deal with DOT clocks and driver facing cams which is a great bonus.

Almost every company up here are on a hiring freeze due to battling layoffs. But once winter picks up everyone will be hurting for drivers.
