Looking for info on a 2024 International RH613 or those that have a A26 in a LT625. Good or bad? Will only haul about 15k in the box. Info on mpg? Seems all I can find applies to the early years of the A26

All A26s are the same. Cheap disposible and expensive. Decent MPG but no pulling power. Expensive on maintiance, not worth rebuilding in most cases, lots of emissions issues from what even techs have told me and so on. Its also had many recalls and nearly everyone who gets them dumps them as soon as the warranty is up and they have basically no resell value. And every time i take my rig to a dealer nearly every single truck there has an A26 and has been in and out for weeks with only the rare cummins like mine in the mix.
Get a cummins X15 or the new S13, they will be a bit worse on MPG (well maybe not the S13) but much cheaper and many less migraines.lual and singlescrewshaker Thank this. -
Not to derail this feller but is the S13 the new deal with no egr & fixed turbo?
That's actually the 1st new engine to intrigue me since the Series 60.. lolBoostedTeg Thanks this. -
I was chatting with the shop foreman at the binder dealer. The s13 has no egr and a fixed geometry turbo.
Open the hood, and you can see the engine.
He is a big fan.
S13 is based off a scania engine.
(Volkswagen owns Navistar now)
He also said the A26 was a decent platform.
A fleet tested one he deals with, went from 8mpg with X15, to 11 with the S13.singlescrewshaker Thanks this. -
10-4
Thanks Mike!
Thought I saw that about fixed turbo no egr. That is the 1st thing I've heard that makes sense to me in a long while. Navistar did major damage to the brand IMO with the max force debacle in the early 2010's, and seems they've never fully recovered?
11mpg seems like a pipe dream to me, as I'm currently sitting in the low 5's. Heck, double the fuel mileage alone would cover the truck payments!! LolSons Hero and BoostedTeg Thank this. -
My buddy rented a truck with s13 for two weeks. Said the cab was the same crap as in last 5 years, but the mpg was amazing. 9-10 mpg with 20klb in a van. With his older Volvo mpg is at 7
singlescrewshaker Thanks this. -
Yeah until it starts breaking down on you. All that fuel savings goes back for repairs. I’d rather stick to older 07 an older trucks.Sons Hero and singlescrewshaker Thank this.

I hear ya.
Everytime I talk to another driver & mention I'm looking for a new truck & they ask what?
Oh, there's a pretty good look'n '95 FLD over there in Montana I'm eyeball'n.. Their facial expression says it all...
Lol
Well...
New to me!! Lol
Sons Hero and BoostedTeg Thank this. -
They certainly have not fully recovered.
I swear their "return to profitability " is the doubling of parts prices..
The maxxforce debacle bankrupted a lot of folks who bought them, and almost bankrupted Navistar.
Volks buying them is having a negative effect from where I sit..
We have 4 units with PSI 8.8L propane engines. Navistar and PSI got into a whiz war over warranty. This has screwed us out of some warranty work, and making parts a little iffy.
If I had to buy a truck, I like the look of the international HX.
But the s13 is only available with an auto trans. Blah.singlescrewshaker Thanks this. -
I actully got to be up close and poke around inside an HX with the 73" mid roof on it while my rig was at the dealer for AC issues. They are #### nice rigs. Take everything nice about a long nose pete then put a modern well laid out interior in it instead of that outdated crap they had till recently. Then give it a well laid out engine bay where everything is easy to get at and an absolutely silly amount of ground clearance.
I actully asked the dude to spec me one and they are $203K for one speced out exactly like i need. Im debateing going for it when my lonestars warranty is up.Flint1 Thanks this.
