Yes, Mr. Pritchett does own the Mack dealers in Florida, all but two that I know of. Any Mack dealer that you see affiliated with NEXTRAN is owned by Pritchett. This has worked to my advantage on more than one occasion, nothing cooler than pulling up to NEXTRAN Tampa, which is very busy, with a truck problem and immediately being put in to a bay to be worked on, perks of the job..............

Well my weekly update, maybe this thread will pick up steam again sometime soon. Anyhow, my totals for the week are as follows:
Trash Loads=6/$300
Poo Loads=6/$390
Total Load Pay=$690
Revenue Bonus=$50
Break down pay=$40
So my total for the week if my math is correct is $780, now this wasn't a great week I had to put my truck in the shop to have the shaft in the rear end replaced, supposedly it was stripped and in the process ruined the inner seal, mind you this was done at the factory or atleast that's the story, my truck only has 36,000 miles on it and it's already suffered 3 days worth of down time. I guess Mack's aren't what they used to be, this is one of those "hybrid" type macks with a mish mash of parts, it's not genuine Mack. The seal on order was for a Mack rear end, well it ended up being a Rockwell rear end, so long story short, gear oil everywhere and my pride and joy laid up at the truck doctor for 3 days. This morning was it's maiden voyage back out across 10 and everything went well, no leaks or breaks to report. On and end note I just want to thank all my fellow drivers who are out and about at 3 am on a Saturday morning, if it wasn't for guys like us nothing would get done in this country, at the end of the day we are the backbone of America, so be proud drivers because I darn sure am. -
I'll second that motion !!!!!!!
Keep us updated, we're reading them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!JustSonny Thanks this. -
Wonder if I can request life support for this thread from the moderators
I'm doing my best to keep it goind and keep it interesting, I know it's only thursday and I usually do my weekly update on Fridays, but I'll throw it out here now:
3 loads of trash=$150
10 loads of bio-solid+$650
Revenue bonus=$50
Total for the week=$850
I started hauling a new product this week out of the water treatment plant, they call them drying beds, basically the city vac trucks that service grease traps, storm drains, etc. dump their material into these beds and they sit upwards of a year drying out before they are ready to be hauled. We've just broke in to them this past week and started hauling, very heavy, and not the most desirable smell in the world, but hey it all goes towards paying the bills and putting money in the bank, I have to say I've not enjoyed a job this much in a long time, if any of you guys that read this are lucky enough to find a job you enjoy, even if you encounter naysayers telling you it's not all that great, just let it go in one ear and out the other and take pride in what you're doing, and allow yourself to enjoy your job like I do. I'll try to post some pics at some point of what 46,000 pounds of "poo" looks like, not quite what you think, if you were to stumble upon it you'd just think it's some sort of topsoil, until you get within 50 feet and the wretchid smell turns you running the other way.JohnBoy, Baack, JustSonny and 1 other person Thank this. -
Ugh, what a miserable day, I guess every dog has his day they say. I've been putting in six days a week lately, just trying to make some good money and achieve top 10 driver status this year, my revenue numbers are on par to set me up for it this year. Anyway, back to today though, after my 2:30am wake up call I headed for the truck, it rained cats and dogs last night so my load picked up a lot of water weight, I was right at 80,100, it's about 90 miles one way out to the landfill and we have to cross the scales at Marianna so I was a little concerned but prepass gave me the greenlight so I was good to go. Now I have heard people say that driving at night can be safer, I agree in some ways, but there are times where driving at night scares the hell out of me, I had some crazy SOB out dancing in the middle of HWY90 this morning, talk about scaring the piss out of someone. Well the time comes to get weighed in and head up the hill to get on the tipper, the landfill got more rain than we did last night so when I went to make my turn I just slid, I locked in my axles and was able to get turned around, it gets interesting when I started to back up the ground basically gave way beneath me and my trailer slid off the road and pulled my truck with it, very peculiar with my trailer pitching at about a 45' degree angle, I was able to get pushed out by the dozer and continue on. I pulled my 2 loads and got a good jump on the week so at the end of the day it wasn't all that bad, I just hope things get better once the week kicks off again on Monday, I don't need anymore excitement like this.

Quick update, fairly light week:
Trash Loads/2=$100
Bio-solid Loads/10=$650
Revenue Bonus=$50
Break down=$36
Totals=$836
Decent week, definatley didn't push to hard though, I've worked 6 days a week for the last month and a half, and loaded trucks on Sunday of last week so needless to say it finally caught up with me this week. All was well until mid week, DOT was out in full force and always like to pinpoint me out of the crowds, well a few brake adjustments later and I was on my way, it's just getting to the point of being frustrating though, I understand DOT has a job to do, but I have a 2010 Mack, and a 97 Dorsey dump wagon that they just love to pick apart. It's now Friday afternoon and I have the next two days to recover so I guess it will all work itself out fine, so until next week everyone be safe and productive and keep it between the lines. -
thashtrucker do you think that companies that do you kind of work would hire an 18 soon to be 19 year old?
THANKS!!!
