After that horrible accident in Florida, with that Indian guy who killed 3 people in an minivan.. something struck me... Why no trucker is standing against the driver facing camera?
Far from looking for excuses to that guy, horrible accident, with absolutely no reason to be so incredibly stupid to U turn on a interstate... BUT... Because of that camera, on top of the fact that he became infamous all over media, the prosecutor ask 45 YEARS OF PRISON, instead of 5.. Because of his reaction.... This scared me a lot... I don't understand those drivers who accept to work for all those big companies that will throw them under the bus in case something happens.....

Well... That's obvvios lol.... What struck me is that for a incredible stupid mistake, it's risking life in prison, while others who did worse ( a guy in Canada killed half of a hockey team in a truck /bus crash and got 10 years, out in 5) ...get free.. All because of the camera....

Simply put. Wrecks from driver looking at a phone are a huge problem. Its not throwing adriver under a bus ! It is however a way to shed some liability from hiring a driver that is So Stupid, that they watch videos or post on facebook while driving instead of Paying Attention.

Every crash is different and the locations of the crashes you mention are very very far apart. The facts of those crashes should be the only thing considered when deciding punishment. THANKFULLY we don't live under ONE BIG GOVERNMENT. Why would the Canadian province and the state of FL have the same punishment? EVERY driver should know whether there is a camera in your face or not, everyone will be doing everything to find out what you did, if you have a crash. And you better have been doing the right thing or you are going under the jail. Make good decisions. Don't depend on not getting caught if you are doing something your boss and the cops don't want you to do behind the wheel. You are either a professional driver or a reckless 4-wheeler driver driving a big truck. Life's not fair so don't give your enemy ammo to ruin your life. If you do, don't whine about it.

Life is not fair... I agree with that... And by the way, it's 5-10 year in Florida too.. Not just in Canada... They decided to put him on homicide charges just because his reaction... Imagine that you get scrutinized after an incident because you had only one hand on the wheel... Not both, for example.... Doing everything right it's the goal, but when you mess up big time, wich obviously no one want... I would say you deserve 10 years instead of 45, don't you think?

Honestly, many of us do hate inwards facing cams and object. That being said i own only my company and my truck where i refuse to use them. Not anyone elses. Ill fight against most things being mandatory with some noteable exceptions based on my own moral code. I wont work for a company with them. And i sure as hell wont for for a company with AI camera. That said if people accept the pay and they accept the camera. Thats on them, if it becomes mandatory i will leave the industry as soon as i can. However, i and many others woll deal with a crappy inward facing cam before we let loved ones starve or lose our home to our pride.

Make of that statment what you will

I'd volunteer to sit behind bars for 45 years after making a poor decision that ended so many lives. I'd feel too guilty not to

Hail to that brother, I am owner operator with my own permits, I will go dispatch or driver manager the moment will became mandatory, I just wait to micromanage the guy up there who said it's worth giving up your privacy, and as of now risking 10 times harder punishment because too many drivers use their phone while driving
