I did chem tank for few years. Companies liked hiring pumpkin tankers with experience. However income while getting inital experience might not be great, in the long run it will set you up to do really good

Schneider veteran here....
The consensus above is that you should go Schneider tanker.
I won't disagree with that.
But.....with some qualifiers:
- Note that Schneider's tanker training is usually located in one of two places: Coraopolis, PA -- or Houston, TX. I recommend (if you can choose) the one in PA.
- Don't expect things to be laid back in Schneider's tanker fleet. It's a lot like being in the military.
- Your first year of the CDL world will be tough -- mainly because you are learning so many new things....& in a relatively short period of time. Also -- the trucking world can be fairly unforgiving with mistakes. Suggestion: go with the flow. Or....as they say in the military, "embrace the suck."
- Yes -- if you can stay in Schneider's tanker fleet for AT LEAST ONE YEAR -- that will open many more doors for you afterward (but this assumes you also maintain a good safety record -- no accidents, rollovers, tickets, etc). Two years of tanker will open still more, even higher paying gigs.
