@ElmerFudpucker There used to be a place "Saluda River Truck Stop" ; neat SC/GA line, where we would stop coming back from flat bedding cotton into SC and NC. Do not recall much about it, but must have been passable, as we all (cotton haulers) stopped there. Reason for memory is that it was about 600 mile from Canton, MS. But we considered leave there and 12 hours later be in Canton. Hard to recall making that time across there, but with an empty flatbed, leave there 4 PM, be in Canton at 4 AM next morning. Less traffic, smaller Atlanta, dark by 6 pm. Just go...

 

One around Gaffney i think and one in Augusta.

 

I don’t remember it. Probably closed long before I came around. I remember the broad river truck stop but it was at the NC/SC line and Norma’s. Both are closed and the buildings are gone now. We used to have a number of decent stops and diners. I can’t think of one good one in the whole state now

Sure beats the Petro in Florence, the J further south, and whatever else I pass going east on 74
