What cellphone provider is actually the best for OTR drivers? I've heard a lot of people say Verizon, but a T-Mobile commercial said they cover 96% of interstate miles whereas Verizon focuses on covering cities. I do realize that commercials are not necessarily reliable. That's why I'm hoping to get some better information here.

I use both and have found that combination to work the best. My phone is dual SIM, so I have a Verizon plan and T-Mobile through Mint. There are some areas, like I-10 in far West Texas, where T-Mobile has much better coverage. Overall though, I find Verizon to have the stronger signal in most places, especially cities, as you mention.

Also T-Mobile had poor coverage in western states like WY, ND, SD and MT when off the interstates by more than 10 miles or so. I found that a pay as you go T-Mobile and a Verizon standard plan meant I had connectivity over almost all of the 48 and Canada.

I run Midwest to Southwest and up into the PNW. Verizon postpaid has been the most consistent on rural stretches. T-Mobile is fast in cities and along major interstates, but I still hit gaps off route. AT&T did best for me in parts of the Deep South. I keep a cheap prepaid backup SIM. For work calls I use a separate VoIP number that forwards to whichever SIM has signal. Set it up via Telxi - Premium SIP Trunking & DID Numbers on pay as you go and ported my old line easily.

Or the cheapest package of whatever you want and get Starlink with it on the truck.

I was using AT&T for years with no issues, but I switched to Mint Mobile (as previously mentioned using the T Mobile network) about a year ago and it’s worked out fine for me at half the price. I’m based in Texas, and have used it pretty much coast-to-coast. Mostly on interstate highways, but definitely some US and state highways as well.

I have Metro by T-Mobile and my service usually gets crazy omw out West. I had to reboot my phone a couple times to get service out in Washington.
