Hey all,
I know. Messed up. I’m looking for some advice, I got my dui reduced to something called physical control in Ohio. My license was reinstated about a month after the arrest. It’s a no point non moving violation but I’m being told I’m uninsurable. I’ve been a truck driver for the last 10 years.
I’m working in the warehouse where I was driving. They said I can go back on the road in 3 years. Wondering if this is as good as it’ll get as far as returning to driving.
thank you

How long ago was the DUI that was reduced?
austinmike Thanks this. -
Seems like working in the warehouse for three years might be your best bet, especially if that’s what their insurance is telling them.

I'd say you have a better chance driving again at the company you work for now, than other companies. Plus you already know if that company pays on-time, has miles, and how they operate. You MAYBE can find another company that will claim to have what you need a year sooner, but companies lie. Work at the warehouse, work another job or ditch everything but a mattress and a room, if you have to. The hardship will go a long way to keeping you from making big mistakes in the future. The lesson you learn the hard way are the lessons that teach the most. Short-circuit that and people tend to "forget" the lesson.
I'm glad you go the charge reduced, have a job, and nobody got hurt. Things will get better if you don't make more mistakes, like believing company web sites and recruiters. Hiring is VERY slow now, and not many trucking companies really want to take a chance on anyone with a recent DUI/whatever.RockinChair, hotrod1653, TurkeyCreekJackJohnson and 6 others Thank this. -
Oh the legend himself. Thanks for taking the time man. It was July 4th of this year. I know I’m not driving anytime soon but wondering if in a year someone might let me or if the charge being reduced makes any difference. I had a dui attorney and he said this was my best bet.austinmike and Lonesome Thank this.

That would be called a OUI in Massachusetts.
One can be passed out drunk sleeping in the backseat and be charged with an OUI…if the keys are in the ignition
“Alcohol-related traffic offenses in Massachusetts are commonly referred to as OUI (Operating a vehicle while under the influence). An OUI differs slightly from a DUI in that while a person can only commit a DUI offense while driving, a person does not need to be driving to be found guilty in Massachusetts. The term “operating” includes a wide range of circumstances that may be better explained by a traffic offense attorney. However, it is worth noting that the terms DUI and OUI are also often used interchangeably”Sons Hero, Carpenter Scotty and Long FLD Thank this. -
Some company will let you drive in 12 months or even less. May not be an ideal, perfect company, but still probably better than warehouse work.

Insurance is the problem, they do more than looking at the MVR, they will ask what the original charge was with specific outcomes, this may be one for Ohio.
