Straight 50 weight like we run in an Eaton. 50 weight synthetic will take some abuse

Kinda like 200146 on the I 80 site, but was solid (FLAT) around the outside prerimeter, you could not see the plate thru links, and had the full chain link. Alot of Wreckers/tow trucks up here have them, but they do not make them anymore .. The last spare i had is pitted pretty bad and i cannot find anyone to re plate it.. My plating source is no longer with us..

Ya I always have ran Pennzoil 10w-30 in everything that was gasoline and Delo 15w-40 in everything that was diesel. Now I have two newer Dodge Cummins pickups and I had to switch to Rotella T6 Full synthetic 5w-40, the 6.7 Cummins went to hydraulic lifters in 2019 and needs a lighter weight oil.

During the pandemic I found in my neck of the woods that Rotella was hard to find. As much as I hated to do it I bought the Tractor Supply brand when I changed oil. Keep in mind the engine had 1 oil change on a fresh turned crank and new bearings. About 2500 miles after pouring the TS brand in I was pulling Monteagle heading south to Fort Payne with a new cab & chassis going to a refuse body company. As I was passing the pickle park at the top a knock just came out of nowhere. After getting it home I found #2 rod bearing had spun. Can’t prove the different brand of oil was the culprit, but I never liked changing horses in the middle of the stream. When I put the engine together plasti guage showed everything was good. Just my experience that leaves one concerned….

Tell me/us a little about your motor.
Isn’t it a bit of a Frankenstein Cummins?
Not at all implying that had anything to do with the problem, I just like hearing about out of the ordinary engine builds. :D

Lol, kind of Frankenstein…. 1986 Big Cam 4 low flow CPL 749 converted to high flow CPL 625, with N14 air to air setup. N14 525 HT60 turbo, dual fuel lines, tweaked injectors from Premco in Texas, little heat in the pump…..

    Sounds familiar. :D
Mine is a early 1994 mechanical N-14, CPL 1532 that was built with lower compression pistons for the 430 hp engine, air to air and radiator is 95-07 379 style, dual fuel lines, 250cc Premco injectors, and the pump is hot…
It ain’t no great big horse, but it does ok. Doesn’t get hot, pulls pretty decent, gets good fuel mileage.
