Google is not your friend. Use an Atlas or at least a truck GPS.

I haven't been through there since 08 but we got off on 96 & went through Carthage west through northern part of Joplin. West into KS to the 4 way stop or stop light there by the fuel stop at Pittsburgh.

We still went that way in 24 when I last went through there. Other than after you go through the 4 way at oronogo they have put a new roundabout where you used to make that right towards Pittsburgh

I use Gargoyle maps regularly to get a 2nd option. I also use it for street and satellite views. I rely on my truck GPS that the company provides to compare with Gargoyle maps.
If I ain't ever been there, I research it with all my resources to make a decision.

(Some of you may not get it so I'll explain.. A Gargoyle was a slimy monster in 1960's & 70's movies)

I use Google. But I stay on highways. Often tries to throw me down a goat path.

    Say what you want....

    Think what(ever) you want....

    Only a Rand-McNally Trucker's Road Atlas would show & verify....beyond any/all doubt...

that hwy 467 thru Raymond, MS...& also...right thru the middle of the Hinds College campus there...is in fact a perfectly legal truck route.....:p :D

It’s fine if you aren’t stupid and blindly follow it. Stick to numbered state routes and US highways if you’re somewhere you don’t know well. Occasionally I’ll still consult the motor carrier atlas to make sure it’s an okay truck route but usually Google maps if fine if you trip plan correctly

Lol I went thru LSU once. Didn't intend to but I did. Granted probably not a truck route.

Google is good for real time traffic updates, but I wouldn't use it for much else in a CMV. I prefer two GPS systems, my Garmin and the ELD, along with a map. I put the address into my Garmin, then I compare the route it gives me against a map.

Like @D.Tibbitt said: stick to interstates, U.S. highways, and state highways, IN THAT ORDER.

Even if it's slightly out of the way, I'll reroute my Garmin to stay on a better road. Then I'll put the address into my ELD GPS. I let it run as a backup in case Garmin starts to go crazy, which it does occasionally do, especially when there's an unexpected detour that forces me off the preplanned route.

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.
