"as a matter of fact she has a business helping other immigrants get legal"
They are not immigrants if they are not here legally, they are illegal aliens. They are supposed to be legal before they ever cross the border. And not overstay any kind of visa. Asylum laws were made for and state for political and/or religious persecution. And it was intended for people to apply and be approved before they entered the USA. But the last administration allowed asylum seekers for just about any reason. Cross the border, claim asylum after the fact, after the law was broken. Most interviewed at the border said they were looking for a better life. Get a hearing years down the road and disappear into the shadows. Something like 80% never show for a hearing.

You may be confusing it with CAM (central american minors) This was a program setup to stop the unaccompanied minors from showing up at the border. They, minors only were allowed to apply from their country. This program was canceled by the current administration in their first term. -
To be granted asylum in the U.S., you must prove that you have suffered past persecution or have a well-founded fear of future persecution in your home country. This persecution must be on account of one of five specific protected grounds:
- Race
- Religion
- Nationality
- Membership in a particular social group
- Political opinion
And the whole point is we don't need all these foreigners. It is not only in trucking that they come here and work cheap and take jobs. -
Just pointing out that they need to show up at a border crossing unlawfully to eventually apply for asylum. They get arrested at the point of entry and get put through the system and eventually bond out.
All four of my grandparents migrated here so I understand what motivates them.OlegMel Thanks this. -
