What are the requirements to legally fly an aircraft, for pay, in the United States, for domestic service? Some of those requirements can easily be applied to those operating trucks.

Want to come in from Canada/Mexico with a load and take one out? Cool. Anything else and you should go in the system and that means no more runs into the US.

Giving CDLs to illegal immigrants is ludicrous. Heck DLs, or State IDs to illegal immigrants is preposterous.

Opendeckin, Siinman and CAXPT Thank this.

Legally with the FMSCA thats the law. Being a Canadian Carrier my Company follows it to a tee legally. However, I know for sure a good amount does not aftet a few months ago speaking to a foreign probably overseas dispatcher. She told me that they had falsifed BOL's so their Carrier drivers can run state to state and benefit off of U.s. freight loads only. Legally & morally this is wrong. And I'm sure more are doing it than most will think. In my mind with the abundance of fees paid into obtaining my Authority I want to maintain a good record. However, tarriffs and the entire Freight market being in the dumps its a challenge. Regardless, with this past week being one of the worst regarding reload coming out of VA, WV or even NC I got something small. The abundance of foreigners operating carriers cabotage is at an all time precedent during these times while they know that no one is rewarded for their integrity rather than staying afloat financially.

I don't think that's how capitalism or supply and demand work unfortunately.

Unfortunately there will always be dishonest criminal types who have no moral qualms about cheating or gaming the system if there's a fast/easy buck to be made. (Look at how Wall St works for example). With the trucking business it's bad also because of the high involvement of foreigners who, I'll just say it...come from less civilized societies where theft, graft and corruption is considered normal or even expected behavior. They come here and see a bunch of suckers who were taught to respect the rule of law and it's a big honey pot for them. This is what happens when too many of these people are allowed in, but we all know why they're allowed in and who to thank for it.

    CAXPT Thanks this.

They'll work for cheap rates but then will make up for it by cheating. Not following the HOS, not paying their taxes, bringing a buddy along who doesn't even have a CDL to keep the truck moving all night. There's so many trucks on the road now compared to the olden days of trucking that CMV enforcement is woefully inadequate to keep up with it all, state budgets being what they are these days there isn't a lot of extra fluff to go chasing after every last curry-in-a-hurry or Chicago white Volvo mafia associate.

hope not dumb twucker and CAXPT Thank this.

You'll own nothing and like it.

You can't vote your way out of this. No one is coming to save you.

Supply and demand have nothing to do with greed. When your overhead is low and income is decent, you can afford to pay your employees a livable wage…. Question is are you going to? Obviously many companies like swift Werner Schneider etc choose not to because of greed and shady business practices, corporate steals for lavish vacations and boob jobs on company’s budget, when every day Joe is stuck in truck making chump change

I almost signed up a couple of years back, Canadian companies even offer permanent residency status with your job application as each province has its very own work program. What you'll find is a lot of people from India because they have a university degree qualify for the residency via the driving job, not sure why Canadian authorities require a driver to have a higher education for, which excludes most that would normally qualify due to driving experience alone. As to a persons nationality I don't think it really matters provided they abide by the driving laws and do not present a risk to other road users.
