Has anyone bought a semi sleeper tractor through Rays Truck Plaza? If so, what was your experience? I found a truck I like and seems to fit what I am trying to accomplish. They do have a 10 day inspection period and a 6 month warranty. I mainly just worry about the Automatic transmission and emissions especially just having the truck shipped to you and sight unseen. That’s what the 10 day inspection period is for and they seem confident in the reliability of the trucks they sell. So just looking for any perspective. Thanks in advance

That would be the deal killer for me. Buying a truck site unseen is about the dumbest thing you can do in this industry and raises your chances of failure from 1 in 10 succeed to your chances of winning the lottery, 5 times in a row, with the same numbers at that are higher.
Dont walk, run.Magoo1968, hope not dumb twucker, Sons Hero and 2 others Thank this. -
you don’t officially buy it until after the 10 day inspection period where you can drive it have your mechanic look it over etc. if you don’t like the truck for any reason they come and pick it up at their cost. I would be out the shop to $’s though. Which is .80/mile so in my case about $1000. So essentially they ship it to me (I pay for) and 10 days to drive and evaluate. They must be pretty confident in the trucks they sell♂️

No.
If it's a Detroit platform they can hide any emissions issues for at least 5K miles just by hard regen, and then ship it off. And you ain't gonna run it 5K in 10 days.
Then your stuck with a clogged one box.
How many miles? And what kind of truck?
I'm not gambling my 80K dollars on the nice guys at Ray's Truck Plaza, in Colorado. They have a 2 star review on Google. They are not even a dealer.
Use Truckpaper and find another seller with a truck that fits you.Sons Hero, Lonesome and Arctic_fox Thank this. -
Have a dealership pick up the truck and inspect it and give you a report before it leaves the city where it's at right now. Whatever it costs to do all that will be a lot less than having a broken truck and not earning money while everyone argues about who pays and what get's fixed.

I stay away from any "Plazas",,,
I still say, your best bet on a used truck, is something like FB Marketplace and you can buy it directly from the owner. Most times, they, or a family member if gone, can tell you everything about their "baby". Not sure what you are looking for, but for example, a 2005 FL daycab twin screw, 1 owner, clean, 515 HP, $17,900 in Hayes , KS. or a 2019 FL Cascadia, big sleeper, 700K, $34,900 Denver. Don't be afraid of FaceBook, the Marketplace seems to be the premier place to advertise now. Really, stay away from a dealer, please. One thing to remember on a used truck, miles. ALL used trucks are going to have a ton of miles, its why they are for sale. By 7-800K, most motors are shot for the 2nd time, or will be soon, so plan ahead. Automatics are practically proven, as 93% of all new trucks have them. Good luck.
1999 C12 Thanks this. -
It’s a 2019 Volvo with Volvo D13M - 445 and Ishift. Just under 500,000 miles. We just using it for for our company Bot For Hire and only drive about 15-20,000 miles a year. So something with higher miles doesn’t bother me.201 Thanks this.

Just the name of the place says no for me.

I agree with the others that I would just probably stay away from this situation. To many pitfalls. But since you mentioned that you will pay for the shipping to you, I was curious how many miles we are talking about and what they quoted you as the shipping fee. Also do you have to pay the shipping fee upfront or is it "upon arrival"?

Look and inspect in person. Much easier to walk away if not to your likings. Trying to "un do" a partial deal will drive you nuts. I bet you'll have to fill o9ut credit app and start the deal.
