Sure is and they only hire drivers from within.

OP is probably a 10-15 minute drive from the DC..couldn’t ask for better.

Maybe I’m delusional but I thought I saw Walmart DC in Cheyenne, WY offering close to $40 per hour for loading dock workers.

I saw 22 to 24 in Michigan. I don't know if that's still the case. Get some OT and it's a decent living. No truck issues.

When I was 18, I got a job driving straight truck for a company that put up concert stages and wrestling and boxing rings. 19-20, I drove the courtesy van for a 5 star hotel, picking up guests at the airport.

The hardest part is getting started. I remember standing in an office of a brick yard, asking for a chance. People would talk to me,they liked me, BUT they were afraid to give me the chance. All I needed was the chance. The first tractor trailer job came after I took a position in the warehouse of a beer distributors. Worked in the warehouse for a month. Not ideal, not what I wanted, but it’s a start.

Keep us updated. I hope you are successful.

    Luck in battle, hand.

Was just thinking what else I did before turning 21, beside popping bennys and smoking weed on the road. I hauled Compressed Gas(Natural gas, butane, and propane). No Hazmat was required back then even though I have it now.

Not Bragging, just saying what it was back then. Just the facts.

Sheet, early 80’s (local straight truck) bunch of us drivers would meet up at a bar for a liquid lunch..no one ever bothered us.

Heck 1979 got hit head on 50 mph by a drunk. They nailed him on 7 charges and he was back driving in 30 days. I wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and still have a divot on my skull from it.

I remember diners a truck stops that served beer on tap. Drivers would have a couple with meals and then get in their trucks and finish their day.
