You could probably have the reporting probation changed if you showed the court that you had an opportunity to turn your life around.
Talk with your probation officer about what you’re thinking to do. Start showing them that you’re taking life seriously now.gentleroger Thanks this. -
You have a bright future. You'll fit right in. We are all degenerates
Crude Truckin', Ddh77777, North Pole Nightmare and 1 other person Thank this. -
she has already made it very clear it cannot become non reporting until June 2026.

That’s only 8 months. Put the next 8 months towards your work history. “I was incarcerated”
isn’t going to get you anywhere.
Again, willingly giving up your freedom is stupid on all levels. Just going to show potential employers that you’re an idiot.
Suck it up at your fast food job and move on when you’re able.Sons Hero, Crude Truckin', tscottme and 2 others Thank this. -
you think it looks worse to have to state that I was incarcerated rather than having to state I am on probation?
-
Yes I am definitely a degenerate and complete failure at my life. Which is something I would like to change. Do you have any thoughts about how such a negative employment history and the criminal record would impact my ability to get a truck driving job? It is truly horrible employment history- probably the worst in United States. Again I just don’t want to pay for truck driving school and never be able to find a job.
Also how hard is it to learn to drive a truck? I wonder if I could learn. I also have zero mechanical knowledge and have been watching videos on pre checks- leaves me feeling intimidated!!Last edited: Oct 14, 2025

I think a work history is better than an incarcerated history.
Once you’re able to leave the state and not required to report in person to probation get going with becoming a truck driver.
List your misdemeanor charges as they are and be done with it. There really isn’t any reason why you have to tell anyone you’re on probation at this point.
It’s only truck driving.
Stay out of trouble for the next 8 months and if trucking is still something you’re interested in then go for it.Crude Truckin', lual and tscottme Thank this. -
it’ll still show on a background check. What are your thoughts on the absolutely awful employment history? Would any truck driving company take a chance on me if I paid for my own cdl schooling? Also do they consider working fast food part time work history? No issues staying out of trouble. That really isn’t a problem at all.

Eh, so what if it shows on your background check. Just list what you were convicted of. They aren’t felony charges so they aren’t really a big deal in the grand scheme of things.
Paying for your own training in an accredited school, college etc is much better imo. Some of the training schools put you on the hook for a lot more money in some cases than private training. I paid $5,300 for a top school with one on one training.
What state do you reside in? If you’re anywhere near a Sage Truck Driving School then that would be my personal recommendation…they don’t have a heck of a lot of locations.
