Doing some reading on western express… think if I get my cdl they’d probably be my best bet given the issues. Just wondering - if I put in six months there would that outweigh the other issues in getting a better job as a driver? It’s not that I plan to job hop it’s just reading their reviews I don’t think it’s something anyone can do long term. They pay 500 per week for drivers in training. Don’t know what they pay after- does anyone know?

Before you even apply for/to Western Express -- apply to these....& get their response, FIRST:

    • May Trucking
    • Paschall Truck Lines
    • Halvor Lines
    • Schneider National
Even a bad day at Schneider....is better than a good day at Western....

will apply to all of them once I get my cdl. I just think the horrible employment history and criminal record will keep me from having a chance. From what I’m reading western express is a lot more lenient.

have also read that Schneider won’t hire with poor employment/employment gaps.

Don't be so quick to sell those other carriers so short. o_O

Schneider hired me -- after I had been out of "regular" work....for several years.

Once again -- when the right time comes -- apply to those other listed carriers FIRST.

A bonus: before applying to ANY of these discussed -- get ALL of the relevant CDL endorsements: tanker, hazmat...& doubles/triples.

Those endorsements will help you stand out from other rookie applicants -- & show these carriers that you mean business.

That's how I got hired on by Schneider. :p :D

Stop worrying about the tickets. Those you listed won't be an issue because they're so old.

I also have a minor accident on five year old mvr- not three year but five for sure. Do you think that if I got six months to a year at western express- which really does look to be my best option given the employment and criminal history- I would be able to find something else? I was reading western express pay is 800 bi weekly.

Don't believe everything you read about Western Express. To earn $800 bi-weekly, you'd have to run the exact same milage every week. Every week is going to be different.
If Western Express will hire you, then go there. It's still much better than what you're doing now.

From what I understand about western express, they are a second chance company and will hire with poor employment history and a criminal record/while on probation. The other companies are more strict about all of that from what I’m reading. I don’t know if they’ll hire me but that’s what I’ve been reading. I do wonder if I would have an easier time being hired elsewhere if I got six months or so of experience with western. And yes, 800 bi weekly seems really low. Not to mention my concerns with not having health insurance. Just wondering if I did those six months Vic I might have a better chance, even with the criminal and employment issues, with six months in. I don’t think western express would be great long term but probably the only company that would give me a shot. I could be thinking too far ahead I guess.

Yes, you're thinking too far ahead. Focus on being prepared when your probation ends in June 2026.
