    Not saying, but I wonder if he was using the "Agriculture Exemption" and being so tired, his reflexes were not working too swift.

    I know what you mean. I've got a small screen GPS and my phone on a holder , keep both screens turned down to 50 percent brightness at night. I keep a towel over the phone so it won't distract me if it lights up.
    Passing some trucks you see the cab lit up like Christmas in the mirror before you get to them.
