Was wondering if anybody on here has tried or used no brand name 1R-1808 oil filter on their c15s. I’m seeing them at a quarter of the price on apps like temu and alibaba. They seem to look exactly like caterpillar filters, just without the caterpillar logo on them. So I’m wonder if they come from the same factory without the brand. I’m not sure if there’s a micron difference as I haven’t been able to find any information regarding that on the apps. If anybody has any insight or information on giving these a shot I would love to hear it. Because $58.00 for 6 filter sounds way better than $167.00. Thanks in advance.

I don't have any experience with filters, but I have with other Chinese manufactured stuff. I've had tools break WAY too premature; I recently bought a watch for measuring oxygen absorption which is really poor quality; and on and on. Sure, it makes sense to buy potentially poor quality if there's not any consequences. I can buy 2-3 of anything at Harbor Freight for the price of one reputable brand name like Snap-On. So if one breaks, just get another. But I wouldn't mess with oil filters. I can envision inconsistent micron perforation, easily breathable, etc. I suppose the only way to maybe get an indication is from oil sampling regularly.

I will tell you this, take it however you want. I had a Pete with a Cat. I was having breakdowns regularly. IAP sensors. Replacing the IAP sensor would cure it for a while. I carried a spare sensor in the truck. They aren't cheap. Cat told me it was my Baldwin filters. They sold me a case of Cat filters for the same price as the Wix filters and I never had the problem again. The Cat filters were a bit finer micron.

Have you seen the price of a in-frame kit?Heavyd, W923, blairandgretchen and 7 others Thank this.

Like everyone has mentioned, there are good ways to cut corners but that's not one of them in my opinion.

Not on a Cat. If you screw up a cylinder it has to come out and go to a machine shop.

Try Temu, you probably get 6 for $10 with free shipping and they throw in a pack of free Pokemon cards
Friend, Oxbow and hope not dumb twucker Thank this. -
It’s always best to stick with original oil filters on any engine. If you’re gonna use aftermarket use a brand from a supplier that you trust. Way too many copies and clones out there on the internet to risk a catastrophic failure. The old adage you get what you pay for…..

I remember a few years ago Baldwin filters had some media trouble I can’t remember exactly what it was. I’d stay with CAT.
