As a company driver I generally average $400+ daily, and I don't have to pay for anything...

Sounds about right for spot market. I’m an O/O power only doing mostly flatbed and I’d say $2.50 is about my average, factoring in some bobtail deadheads and all. Not exactly breaking the bank but decent enough for now, especially for this rookie. I’m only 3 years in and still getting the lay of the land.

In terms of YouTube, there’s some channels (ie Trucking Made Successful) I watch that break down trucking rates, fuel costs, and a bunch of other factors weekly. May be worth a look. Just my .02

On a W-2? $2k a week is a pretty good job either way. Apples and oranges though.

    Feedman Thanks this.

I talked to a guy at Kenworth in Menomonie awhile back getting his truck looked at for something. Pulling a dry van I don’t think he was even at $1.90 right now. He showed me his spreadsheet. This was a guy with his own numbers also who’d been at it awhile. Not a rookie. I think he said he was strictly a spot market guy though, and you know how goes. When it’s good it’s fantastic and when it’s bad it’s awful. I can see how being tied to direct shippers can be drag at times though.

On a W-2. 2200 this week. I could make more, but that's ok.

I'm a company driver running linehaul pulling wiggle wagons and I make $550 a day. My schedule is a meet and turn that takes 9hrs/50mins to turn. I've made as much as $660 for a single days run and on a holiday if I decide to work I'll make around $1,100/$1,200 for the day. When I see what you O/O's make and the expenses you have I definitely feel for you.

If it makes you feel any better I would much rather make less as an O/O than run the same linehaul route every day. It's great that different people are happy doing different things, that way everything gets done.

Yeah, I wouldn't do that linehaul stuff for 5k$ a week. I hate monotony. While I may frequent certain areas more during certain times of year, I'll take different routes, stop different places, etc.

I try to keep it fun most, but still profitable
