As safe as anywhere. Stay out of dark areas.

The direct answere is as safe as anywhere you go.
There is no such place that is truly safe , not even in your own homes.

The average driver at your major metro stops
    1. Has no situational awareness
    2. Has headphones or earbuds so hearing is compromised.
    3. Is scrolling on the phone in public. Vision is occupied.
    4. Believe that predators and jackers prefer female targets and that they are safer being males. That’s not how predators choose their prey. Predators attacking zebras don’t choose the zebras according to gender.

If you are not average for the area, your odds of being safe are better.

“What does the area have to do with anything, Six?”

Was on a long group ride way out in a backwoods area. The lone female in the group heard from several of the locals that she couldn’t be from the area because she had TEETH.

Six, My two cents says predators pick females because males are stronger, bigger, faster. I believe the predator is looking for the easiest prey.

Females have been driving trucks a long time. I personally haven’t seen police in truck stops dealing with any women being assaulted there. Most likely the safest place for most everyone is in the crowd it’s when you put yourself away from the crowd a secluded place like entrance ramp or anywhere where you are by yourself when you could put yourself in danger.

If you mean is a truck stop safe, so I don't have to be smart about what/how I do things there, then no it's not safe. If you mean can you easily spend 30 years parking at truck stops to sleep, get food, get showers, fuel, get repairs and never be assaulted, then yes it is safe. You probably wouldn't lounge around a Walmart parking lot for hours with your vehicle doors unlocked or windows rolled down while you sleep. You probably wouldn't ask every stranger you meat at Walmart if they could sell your some illegal drugs or make change for a $100. You probably wouldn't go around asking if someone could sell you some very expensive jewelry or TVs VERY cheap. If you wouldn't do it at a Walmart parking lot at 2 am, don't do it at a truck stop. Don't confuse everyone else at the truck stop being focused on THEIR one reason to use the truck stop with everyone not wanting you to succeed. They don't notice anyone if they don't have to. Go about your business and don't look for trouble. The media is wrong about almost everything, including truck stops.

Use common sense, be aware of your surroundings and keep your head on a swivel, especially at night. Stay in truck stops on the outskirts of big citys.
