If in fact Python is a ####cago company like Vista, you're correct. I can admit that Vista had the miles at least. I just wasn't keen on being talked down to when I called in for simple repairs or being charged for them when I told you what was wrong with the unit. That said, it was myself and two other drivers whom had the pleasure to open up and drive for their HazMat fleet. Oh yeah, they paid extra for that and of course, they used my pictures to show the new hopefuls how to properly placard a load. They also asked for my assistance in which books to buy to which I showed them both that I used at Southern Refrigerated Transport. I ended up buying them at the Iowa 80, sending photos and was reimbursed for my time. Like I said, I only left because of the way they liked to talk to drivers like we were nothing. I miss driving and my friend wants me to go back with him. I'm just not going for personal and family reasons.

While both pre-trip and post-trip inspections are required, you only need to log one of them. Although a pre-trip inspection is meant to be done before driving, a driver could legally choose to log just the post-trip. This approach can be advantageous in the 11/14-hour system. A thorough post-trip inspection allows issues to be identified and resolved during downtime, rather than when you're supposed to be driving. Logging a pre-trip starts the 14-hour clock. If a problem is discovered, you won't have a 10-hour break to adjust the schedule or repower the load. Companies that require drivers to log pre-trips are doing so as a policy, not due to legal necessity, since a pre-trip can be performed legally without logging it until the post-trip. Flag a pre & Log a post and if they want to treat you like a IC only so you can pay their taxes then hand in the keys.

Because they're shifty like most companies that misclassify their drivers to avoid the employee expenses and then treat them like employees.

I had a friend argue that post trips didn't need to be logged. He literally asked to be shown in the FMSCR where it was. There was no arguing with him. I quit logging them, but I still did them. Caught a lot of fixable stuff on my down time and it was relatively minor fixes. No late loads, no mechanic shops unless it happened during the trip. I'd do mid-trip ones as being a HazMat driver required it. The only time I failed any inspections was due to things happening during my trips. Both times, it was tires.

"You were classified as a 1099 independent contractor, not a W-2 employee,"
"Our team treated you with respect, provided a well-maintained truck,"
Thank you for admitting in writing that you misclassify employees as independent contractors. Expect an audit from the IRS and the state.

Yes, in one of her replies she says that my last pay will be sent when it's due. It is over a month now and still not received. Yes, you contract with them and then they think they own you.

I seriously doubt that will ever happen since there are a plethora of companies openly advertising 1099 jobs (and not to OO). If the IRS were serious, all they'd have to do is look on the job sites and go to work. Easy peasy...yet...it's not done. At all. Ever.
