how much experience do you have and what type of experience? Most of the haul road jobs is heavy haul/flat bed work or pulling doubles. Most companies want a minimum of 4-5 yrs of driving experience.

Close to 10 years.
Started out local .gov jobs hauling heavy equipment and dump trucking. Mostly lowboy for the tractor work. Never ran RGN, our lowboys had wet kits for ramps.
Then did otr reefer for a very short time.
Then ran MT and WY food grade tanker for a few years. Some small amount of stepdeck flatbedding.
Then did LTL for a time out of Missoula, Kalispell, and Butte until the slowdown this year. Doubles/triples dryvan obv.
Now running fuel on a trunk n pup "doubles" setup. Not making crap doing this. About 65k/yr with 60hr weeks in the Northwest. -
are you guys hiring right now or know of anyone who is up there?
-
Winter season is starting soon so lot of companies are starting to hire. NO AUTO RESTRICTION, we all drive 10speeds,13 speeds. Need tankers and hazmat endorsements. Most require liquid tanker experience. Just some companies who are hiring. But just do your own research.
Side note: best thing about driving up here is you don’t have to throw on snowchains ever.

Do Alaskan drivers get OT if they are hourly? I saw that posting on Indeed. You could make insane money at 40/hr with OT running 70 hours.
-
Yes, we get paid OT when we’re hourly. I’m running 84hrs a week minimum. With 44hrs of OT a week minimum. I been clearing 98-106hrs a week, 58-66hrs of OT. We’re not restricted to DOT clocks or logs since we’re on “private property” so you can work as many hours as they’ll let you. Also, Alaska is a no state income tax state.
