The problem is that statistics is about numbers and patterns they make. Ex convict population on average has more propensity to repeat felonies and go back to prison vs population with no criminal record.
That's why someone with no criminal record is more employable than someone that has one.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
In some states, lethal force in self-defense is treated as a “violent crime”. I’ll personally never consider someone a “felon” if he went to prison for exercising what as far as I’m concerned is every man’s God given right.

How many felons have you met, known, been friends with, or interacted with in your lifetime?
I think we all know the answer.blairandgretchen, Siinman and exhausted379 Thank this. -
I care to know none. There's something called recidivism.
Fact:
"A 2016 federal study found that 49.3% of federal offenders were rearrested within eight years, while a 2025 report indicates that about two-thirds of released state prisoners are rearrested within three years and 82% within ten years."
Recidivism Among Federal Offenders: A Comprehensive Overview
So, while you may know one or two rehabilitated felons who have found Jesus and a new purpose of life, majority are liability; especially the violent ones. Them driving trucks, therefore, might be of public safety concern.Last edited: Oct 25, 2025

How about we send in 1,000 ice agents into California to do pop up truck inspections all across the state.
BoostedTeg, Siinman, Long FLD and 2 others Thank this. -
Why only into California?
But we know that's not happening.Siinman Thanks this. -
Can start in California to set a precedent and then go nationwide
Siinman and hope not dumb twucker Thank this. -
The problem with numbers are they don't show the real picture. As a person that has been around more felons than most people ever will be in a life time I have a better understanding of this issue. You are right on how the numbers look and most people have your save view and it sucks.
See if you look at the felons that got out of prison and got a job within the first 4-8 weeks out of prison you will see a huge difference in failure. Now look into the felons that kept said same job or better job after a year. You will see yet another major change in the percentage of people going back. Now do this at the 3rd year and 5th year and you will see a munch better number.
Also what you will find in this information is that the felons that kept the same job after 5 years will be one of the top employees they have hired in that time frame. Those guys will be the most loyal people on the face of this earth to your business. The felon that wants to better themselves are way more thankful for the opportunity they got and will become a life long employees.bullhaulerswife, MACK E-6, Gearjammin' Penguin and 4 others Thank this.
