    My most logic on this was whatever you use, don't slosh it on as thick on the upper half moon. First trailer you get under wipes the top half off nicely on to the the lip ot the trailer plate.
    Old man me, I have been known to have my tractor in the shop/wash rack and trailer in yard. Go out and scrape the accumulation off the trailer plate, grease the 5th wheel liberally; lower half, lighter top half moon. Back up close, see where the heights were, adjust trailer height, slide under gently pre click, letting the trailer plate smear the grease, then lower the trailer and back on under to latch.

    Convoluted; but I was mostly pulling that black trailer. And no, I never failed to hook or have mishooked or lost a trailer.

    First I’ve heard of that one. Seems like it would at least be a bit less messy than grease if it just doesn’t run right off.
