"Batch Mates" - had to look up that one; haven't heard it before.
~
The term "batch mates" refers to individuals who are part of the same year group or cohort in an educational institution, meaning they started and are expected to finish their studies at the same time. It is commonly used in South Asia and the Philippines to describe members of the same graduation class.

Just the opposite for me. Running local or regional made me want to jump off a cliff.
I love the OTR life. I even liked pulling reefers coast to coast for 18 years. If anyone wants to hear me complain and be grouchy all the time, then force me to run local. The open road is for this guy.Last edited: Oct 27, 2025

Where does it state that the OP needs to be out for 4 weeks at a time? Depending on what part of the country he lives in he could be home every few days.

That’s what I was thinking. I’m in Kentucky, I’ve been told by multiple carriers for flatbed, that this is a fantastic freight laneChinatown Thanks this.

Lexington is a good area for flats. I know I said I wouldn’t go to Landstar but they had several years ago a good agent there who did have some good freight. I don’t know why the conversation has gotten to being away from home for months. The companies you’re talking about Landstar,Mercer admiral and Dallas mavis are agent based carriers your home time is really up to you and living in Lexington you’re close to Ohio Indiana Illinois that’s a good region for flats you could stay in that area a do pretty good.Starting in the winter months is tough manly because construction season slows down.
AppalachianDruid Thanks this.
