Park in a safe haven and stick a knife in it and finish it off. Simple…… company would have to send tire service. I didn’t read what position the tire is at. Steer, drives, trailer…..

Sure looks like a steer from last pic posted & outward dish in other pic.
I had same issue before a couple of long slices in sidewall of a steer, tire guy insisted i was good to go no need to worry.
I told him he was'nt paying for the tire & i'm not leaving so just change the dam thing, i took a couple of pics & said i have no problem walking across the street to show the owner.
He huffed, puffed & pouted but changed the tire, i said see you spent more time pissing around than actual took to change the tire.tarmadilo, hope not dumb twucker, Diesel Dave and 3 others Thank this. -
Yeah quit the job if the carrier gives you a hard time about replacing the tire.hope not dumb twucker and 201 Thank this.

Well, I don't think I'd go that far, it still is an okay trailer tire, I mean you could just let some air out saying it must be leaking. I realize it throws the "2 new steers" out of whack, but there has to be plenty of virgin singles, especially a fleet that probably happens a lot.gentleroger and Diesel Dave Thank this.

Tires fine. That looks like 2 pretty superficial scuffs. Certainly not worth getting fired or quitting over.

On a steer? Not the best advice IMHO. Would you haul an oversize down the road with a steer that looked like that? I would bet money the answer is no.hope not dumb twucker and 201 Thank this.

That's a DOT violation.hope not dumb twucker, JForce28 and mitrucker Thank this.

I would and I have. I typically pull a 70’ rgn. We are up and over curbs daily, that’s pretty hard on tires of any position. A couple of 1/8” deep scratches is nothing to worry about.

Ask and you shall receive, I’m definitely not at scumbag Freymiller anymore. Went it to the shop foreman and right away he said no bueno and I got two brand new Bridgestone steers.

As long there isn’t any steel cords showing, you are correct, I would flip between the inners on a dual tire axle. I’ve had a similar gouge but not as long and did just that, but no way I would run it on a steer.
