Yeah, that was days later after I was already discharged. But I understand.

A truck stop. Sounds like the cashier should mind her own business

Some local motels will also snitch on truckers for drinking a beer in the rooms. They know when they see beer cans in the trash can.

    The cold, hard truth:

When you acquire a CDL -- the world then holds you to a higher standard -- since you are an aspiring driving professional.

Despite what society may have you believe from elsewhere -- we (still) VER-RY MUCH live in a "reap what you sow" world -- and nowhere else is this more true....than in the CDL world.

Thus -- bad decisions....both/either in the cab, or elsewhere -- can...& will...come back later to bite you in the butt....HARD. o_O

Right now....trucking companies are going out of business...& laying off drivers, right & left. :(

If you later continue to pursue CDL opportunities -- do keep the above in mind.

Thank you so much for keeping it honest Lual.

Is there any chance of me getting picked up by a food distributor like Sysco or am I f**cked for right now?

If you're going to drink a beer on the road, nobody should see you. The cashier should have minded his/her own business. Out here on the road, you must fly under the radar in every situation. By virtue of driving a truck, that's an attention getter in itself, and sometimes in a negative way. Nobody should ever see you drinking. You're in southern Cal with minimal experience so that's going to be your albatross. Now you've got an alcohol event on your record and that's an even larger albatross. Reputable companies won't even touch you for at minimum 3 years. For some companies that still may not be enough time. Maybe you can find a 1099 gig just to keep your experience flowing. Other than that, youll be temporarily black balled from the industry.

Sometimes a food service carrier (Sysco, McLane, etc) will hire a "driver helper"....who assists the driver with unloading the freight -- but who does not drive. You might try looking for openings for that position.

Such a job would offer you a "front row seat"...to what food service work is really like -- & help you decide if food service is right for you (assuming you haven't done that work, previously).

Some, maybe not all, companies don't allow a rider, passenger, helper if that person has a CDL.

I don’t think the beer in the truck parked in truck stop or any private parking spot is a problem, that’s not on any criminal record that was just a very weird situation where a cashier goes so far to get your company’s name and phone number to call in on you when you were parked I guess on off duty. That’s honestly a little strange to think that was how it really happened. The misdemeanors combined with what your past company says in a referral with your lack of experience is going to make very difficult just keep putting in applications and talk to small local companies dump truck companies just everybody you can
