How did Obama/Biden lead to a 90% debasement of the US Dollar since 1970? You haven't shown me any substantial data to support that. The Federal Reserve note is a fiat currency that is no longer back by the gold standard, and that happened ages before Obama/Biden had an administration.
Any time a politician points towards a marginalized group and or an administration as the sole causation of the current economic conditions, try not to fall for it as all I'm saying. You've been doing this trucking thing way longer than I have, but even I know that you can't reduce the cause of the current climate to just one thing. I was saying that Trump wants the autonomous trucks out on the road... as soon as these foreigners leave the trucking industry, it's not gonna go how people expect.

Would any driver today drive a 1980 cabover or truck for extra pay ? No frig, a coffin sleeper no power steering, no air ride. Plus whatever else they did not have back then.

Trucking became unregulated and became capitalist.

And then the companies go bankrupt, because it's about profits, then nobody has a job.

That's a long way off, but realistically, I would expect those trucks to be warehouse to warehouse in the desert.

NOBODY using my account has claimed "Obama/Biden lead to a 90% debasement of the US Dollar since 1970". Would you like to quote me saying that? I pointed to the timing of influx of new & foreign drivers to the industry. I did not point to the origin of every problem or inflation. Nobody said everything has just one cause or just one villain. Perhaps you are only prepared to make an argument against that mythical accusation so you did. If wages are depressed or suppressed now, then I asked, and you have not answered, how robot trucks caused that. It's like saying my car was damaged by your future invention. Huh??

I think the average is arrived at by combining company drivers AND O/O earnings?

Seems to me that's how the cam up with such a high average for 1980

The other thing is. Ups pays well. Post office you get a pension. Tanker guys make around 100k a year, according to people here. Fuel hauler claim more than a 100k.

And....once again, unions are not the fix all for the industry. They have their place, but are not the solution for every problem in trucking.

A lot of years ago, the local Goodwill warehouse was paying their drivers $7.50 an hour, with benefits provided by Goodwill. The drivers decided to organize, and signed Teamster cards. After joining Teamsters , and after negotiation with Goodwill, the drivers were making $7.50 an hour, with benefits provided by Goodwill.
What did these drivers get from their 2 hrs wages paid to Teamsters every month, except maybe another voice in an argument?
