Did I ruin my trucking career before it even started?

All that was over 25 years ago when I pulled that joke.

 

That's a " gateway drug" for high schoolers in my day.

 

I would say you haven't ended your driving career but you are stuck at WE until this event is old enough to no matter as much or the industry demand for drivers picks up considerably. Once either of those things happen you should be able to escape WE. So I'd say you are at Western Express for a year or more. Some people get good experience at WE and some don't. It's a matter of expectations. Drop all of your expectations and just know where every corner of your trailer is at all time when you are behind the wheel. A smaller than expected paycheck is better than no paycheck. Every driver I've know can find something about any company that he feels needs to be improved. You picked who to work for so you deal without without complaining until you can find an alternative. Nobody is in charge of your driving record but you. Make good choices and if you can't see what you are doing, stop and look. It's not your job to keep the morons on the road around you going at the speed they want to go. It's your job to move along the roads leaving no damage behind, even if it slows the people in cars watching TikToks and honking their horn.

 

If a lawyer says he can't really help you, he's probably right.

 

Get a dog, they appreciate everything you do for them, they never take all of your stuff and leave. You wanting to get married doesn't AT ALL change the character of the women you may meet and date. 75% of the ladies, at least, are like spoiled brats with outrageous expectations and a govt helping them take advantage of family courts and all of your money.

 

That may be why they didn't complain; they were not long out of high school.

 

But.....

BE CAREFUL -- with your choice of dog breed.

Clearly -- some breeds are a better choice than others....especially if they will spend most of their time inside a truck -- with you.

Women see you as one of 3 categories:

1. The sexy hot stud she wants to be with because he is fun to be around
2. A guy who can pay her bills and provide for her who she will tolerate having sex with occasionally
3. A man who completely repulses her in every way and being near him makes her skin crawl

Most men fall into 2 or 3, Once you figure out how to be #1 you get a different version of the same women the other men never see.

Don't take dating advice from boomers, most of them took out 2nd and 3rd mortgages trying to appease women who didn't like them very much anyway.

Best thing you can do for yourself is build a life worth living, be in as little debt as possible, have fun with your life.

A lot of the time having the ability to have fun is the difference between who gets the girl, for instance I have a sailing yacht, it is one heck of a lot of fun to take out sailing, and makes for having great parties, and I am a member of a yacht club, all other things being equal think a woman is going to want to spend time with me, or some broke dude who lives with 3 roomates and has almost no privacy?

Build that life for yourself that is worth living, women will want to be a part of it.
