I guess if you live there you are already accustomed to chaining regularly. Doing it every night would be a chore in my opinion. I still have not so fond memories about crossing the Rocky’s in the middle of the night with a set of doubles. I only did it twice a week on several different bids. The only good thing was when it was bad we were the only idiots out there, but if the road was open we were to keep on trucking.

Not GJ specifically, but my cousin runs linehaul for them. He's in the 140k a year range, and overall is happy.

Chaining is just gonna be part of the job out that way, but moreso if headed towards Denver of course.

    Good luck

How long has he been with the company? 140k is #### good. I’m in food service right now only making 120k

Small center but heavy traffic for relays. It’s a main transfer for freight. Good group of guys. You’ll likely run Denver and back. But they do triples to beaver UT. Or run to SLC. Sometimes layover to Vegas. Working in a smaller terminal is better cause they deal with less BS.

Grand Junction has 20 plus linehaul drivers. Everybody seems to want to go West, no one wants to go East in the winter. (FYI)

Well if you're going East, you'll be going over the rocky mountains. Not a fun time in the winter, especially with hazmat, so most drivers would rather run West.

LTL is all seniority based, so as the newest driver you can expect to be doing the run that nobody else wants.

As someone who's often out there with them, eastbound can be a chore as their schedule often coincides with roads going to crap. By the time they go back west, things have settled down on the interstate, although Loveland (hazmat) will normally stay chain law until sometime the next morning.
