They probably have meets or reasonable turns though. Most companies that run mandatory regular chain up routes on schedule you for 4-4.5hrs one way and have hotels. When I ran line runs on i-90 through western MT, i'd chain 4-6 times occasionally. But usually only have a 400 mile turn.
Any info on saia Linehaul grand junction co

Because of its location, pretty much all the LTLs in Grand Junction will do Denver turns, which is roughly 250 miles each way, 4.5 hours of driving on a good day.

???
There's a tunnel. We don't send hazmat to Denver via GJ.Trucker61016 Thanks this. -
And the hazmat route through that area is US-6 Loveland Pass, which runs over the top of the mountain next to the tunnel. Every LTL company uses that for trailers carrying placarded hazmat. That's the part of the trip that's particularly unfun.
Even if an LTL company avoids routing hazmat relay freight through there, they'll still have customers in GJ and Denver who send hazmat between those two cities.Trucker61016, Hammer166 and Radman Thank this. -
When I worked for Saia I had a grand junction bid. I did alot of hazmat loads chained up going over Loveland pass. Been towed up it a lot cause only so much chains can do for a single axle. You will run Loveland pass with hazmat its part of LTL life running that lane. Why Linehaul tends to hire in this area around winter. A lot of drivers say f this and quit. It’s either mountains going to gjc and back or Wamsutter Wyoming for junior seniority drivers. Senior drivers take all the east stuff.ColoradoLinehaul, gentleroger, duckdiver and 2 others Thank this.

I know single screws suck massively but I've always wondered if the bean counters ordered singles with lockers and bought v bar chains if you could drag yourself up the passes.
I've never had v bar chains fail me. Twist link I have on a twin screw tanker tractor trailer setup with full lockers but only once. OD's single screw plastic cascadia's had forced TC you couldnt disable and crappy twist link three railers. Didn't take much to spin out chained up. Doubles just suck in the snow. Too many tires on the ground. -
I wouldn’t doubt they ordered them to be cheap. They didn’t have lockers either which would be smart. I ran 3 railers which work great but if the trailer was loaded weird or say you get a 20k and a 20k on the back trailer acts as an anchor. Sometimes the rear axle of the back of the trailer would have more weight then the dolly axle. Then you’re screwed in bad snowy weather.

You could have stopped right there.
-
???
No, I don't think they allow trucks to stop up there. -
ColoradoLinehaul, Speedy356, MACK E-6 and 4 others Thank this.
