Let us know when you start school and we'll help you find a decent job. Might have to go with Werner and if that's so, just do it and get a year experience there.

Some PFG facilities have trucking schools now. The one farther east from you in Lebanon does now. The recruiter does pose a point about the possibility of not being hired by other carriers. The pickings are alot slimmer than they used to be for new drivers. Because of the freight recession, many companies have given up hiring new drivers and have become picky. If you went to Roadmaster, that means you're bound to Werner for a year so you're going to get it covered one way or the other.

I just finished a private truck driving school and it was a month long and it cost $5100. Thankfully I did not have to pay for it as it was paid for by a grant. I still think 5100 is too much for what they really don't teach you. I think it is mostly the use of the truck for the test.

This is just one of the problems of mandating truck driving school; expect the prices to go up and the quality to go down.

Not yet but I am moving to Georgia in the next 3 weeks and I am getting my TWIC so I can find a job at the port. I have been looking for jobs in the Brunswick area, trying to find local but if I need to I will do OTR.

Thanks Chinatown. My ancestors have been in Commercial Trucking since the Vietnam War ended. So, I'm quite familiar with the industry. I have a soft spot for Covenant Transportation and Schneider. Covenant Transport seems to be the best option for my situation. So, I'm almost certainly going to hire on with them.
