Found out I need an exercise stress test every other year to get my annual med card. Anyone else trying to figure this out? What's the cheapest option? I'm on Medicare and don't currently drive, but I'd like to do occasional fill-in work . Anyone find the cheapest?

in NC if it's local or not out of state, you can self-certify. no med card needed.

Who said you have to take the stress test? Have you had a heart attack or had stents implanted?

A doc can recommend a stress test but geez if the Dot can order stress test going see a lot of drivers blowing a gasket, or suddenly learning they have blocked arteries or other issues requiring surgery. Good bye license

New regs this year for stents. Had stents put in 4 years ago and just had to have Cardiologist sign off (after ischemia test). Now they want an exercise stress test every other year. I can't believe I'm the first person on here with questions. Search feature showed nothing for this.
The guy I used for my med card told me about it. He didn't know where to go for it as I'm not currently employed. I'm not going to spend big bucks for this.

This is new for people with heart issues that are documented.

If you can get your Cardiologist to order it, then Medicare should pay for it/

I had a heart attack in 2011. I had 2 stents put in then. In 2015 I had 2 more put in. In 2017 I had 2 more put in.
    I have 6 total.

This is nothing new to me. I have to have my cardiologist sign off every year cause I can only get a 1 year.
I have to have a Stress test every 3 years.

All mandated by DOT regs. Been that way since 2011 for me.

That's the nature of the beast man. I can no longer get a 2 year card. I've got heart failure, and now they won't even re-certify me without an echocardiogram every year. Last year was the first year they required it since I was diagnosed. Of course I'm only getting a 1 year card. I'd call your cardiologist, see if you can get the stress test done ASAP. I don't see why your insurance won't pay for the stress test.
